AUTHOR'S POV

Even though Nirmaan's heart still ached from her reaction, he chose to remain silent, his emotions bottled up inside. He planted a gentle kiss on her forehead and tenderly helped her recline.

The days had been fleeting by with remarkable speed. It had been nearly a fortnight since they had been confined to the hospital. Today, she was finally being discharged, and Nirmaan had already orchestrated everything in Delhi with a distinguished ophthalmologist, a virtuoso in the realm of eye care. He didn't want to take any chances, so in the interim, he had instructed his secretary to scour the city for the most exceptional options and consult with the doctor. Right now, he was assisting his wife in preparing to depart for Delhi.

"By the way, this is a golden opportunity for you," she said with a playful glint in her voice.

Nirmaan gazed at his wife, perplexed, while helping her change into a comfortable outfit.

"What do you mean?" he asked, his curiosity piqued.

"Means, I'm blind to the world, so you can feast your eyes on me as much as you desire. I won't even be aware of it. Like, right now," she replied with a sly, enigmatic smile.

"It's not funny," he said sternly and kept doing his work.

"Okay, sorry, I was just kidding. Why are you being so grumpy, silly Gabbar Singh?" This made him chuckle, and they both had a good laugh after so many days.

After he was done, he made her sit and went out to finish everything.

Subi was sitting all alone in the room when she heard the door creaking open.

"Maan...?, Maan Mujhe na Golgappe khane ka badaa dil mar raha hai. Jab hum Delhi pohoch gae na toh aap mujhe waha khilana. (Maan...?, Maan, I really want to eat golgappas. When we reach Delhi, can you please take me to get some?)

But her words were met with an unsettling silence. Suddenly, a hand slithered around her throat, constricting it with a vice-like grip.

Subi's breath caught in her windpipe as the air struggled to pass through. Her face began to turn a deep shade of indigo, her eyes bulging in desperation. She was unable to muster even a faint whisper, her vocal cords paralyzed with fear.

In that instant, she was convinced that her time on this earth was drawing to a close.

Just when she thought she was going to die, the hand suddenly released its grip, and she could breathe again. The room was filled with the sounds of people moving around, but her brain was numb from the lack of oxygen. She was coughing violently, her lungs burning.

Nirmaan quickly rushed to her side and made her drink some water, rubbing her back to calm her down. He hugged her tightly, not wanting to let her go.

The doctor checked on her, making sure everything was fine. After they were satisfied, they allowed Nirmaan and Subi to leave.
