AUTHOR'S POV

Both the girls were waiting when Nirmaan entered, looking around for his wife. Noticing her sitting in the corner, he took steps toward her.

"Maan and romance? Not at all. I'm the one who's romantic. All he knows is how to close deals," Subi said proudly while her husband stood right behind her.

Before Divya could react, he gestured for her to stay seated and continue talking to Subi. "So... um... Is he really that, you know... I mean... in doing that?" she asked hesitantly, and Nirmaan stood there with his arms crossed, fingers on his lips, trying to control his smirk.

"Uh... well... I mean," Subi shifted in her chair. Both waited for her to speak. "I mean, he's okay... like, you know, normal. Nothing wild or anything like you're thinking."

"What's not wild?" came a voice, and Subi jumped from her seat, turning around. Her face flushed at hearing her husband's voice. There he was, towering over her, standing in all his glory.

His raised brow indicated he wanted an answer. "Maan... um... I... uh, you here? What are you doing here?" she asked hesitantly.

"Subi, aaj toh tu gayi. Tu kab apna mooh band rakhna seekhegi?" (Subi, you're dead now. When will you learn to shut your mouth?), she mentally facepalmed herself.

He tilted his head to the side, knitting his brow. Nirmaan was definitely very good at pretending—perks of being a good businessman. Thinking he hadn't heard anything, Subi made an excuse.

"Oh yes, I called you. Yes, yes. No, we were just talking about how I used to think dogs were so wild, but they are actually very cute. I wish I also had one. Right, Divya?" she confirmed, looking at her new friend who was trying to control her chuckles. Subi had no idea she was being fooled by two.

Nodding her head, Divya agreed. After some talking and Divya doing some fangirling, they left the café. Sitting in the car, Nirmaan didn't say anything until they reached the same farmhouse they had gone to after their dhaba date.

"Maan, why are we here?" she asked, looking around. He didn't answer, instead, he picked her up and made her sit on his lap

She gasped at his sudden action. "So, what were you saying? I'm not romantic or wild?" he asked, recounting everything. Subi's eyes went wide in shock, realizing he had heard everything.

"You know?" she stammered. "Shut up, Subi, of course he knows," she mentally scolded herself. "Just wait, I'll show you how wild and romantic your husband can be," he said, pulling her closer and nuzzling into her neck.

Nirmaan began to lightly bite her neck when Subi stopped him, reminding him that they were outside in broad daylight.

"Biwi, we're inside our private property. There's no one around," he reassured her, but she was adamant about going inside.

Rolling his eyes, he made her sit in the passenger seat and was about to get out when Subi suddenly opened the door and ran toward the front lawn.

"Yaar Biwi, now that's cheating," Nirmaan shouted from behind, running to catch his wife. "You did the same, so it's not," Subi retorted.

After five minutes of making Subi run—without putting much effort into catching her—Nirmaan finally held her from behind when she stopped to catch her breath.

"Are we done now?" he asked, and without waiting for an answer, he picked her up and carried her inside. Subi looked away, pretending to be angry, while Nirmaan made her sit on the sofa. He then laid his head on her lap, closing his eyes.

"Tired?" she asked. He just hummed in response. They both remained silent, enjoying the moment, until Nirmaan's light snoring could be heard. Subi looked down, her hand still caressing his hair as his face nuzzled into her stomach.

Smiling lightly, she kissed his forehead. Gently placing a cushion under his head, Subi went to prepare something to eat. Opening the fridge, she found it empty and sighed. The cabinets were equally barren.

She was looking for her phone when Subi remembered that she had left it in the car, and the car keys were in Maan's pocket.

Very carefully, she bent down to take the keys from his pocket but failed as he woke up. Turning his head, he saw his wife doing something.

"Biwi?" he said, sitting up and rubbing his eyes. "Sorry, I just wanted the car keys," she explained. Nirmaan handed them to her and asked why she needed them.

"My phone is in the car, and there's nothing to eat, so I thought I'd order some food," she said, about to head out when Nirmaan asked, "And my phone? You could have called from mine."

"And where is yours?" Subi turned to him. Nirmaan looked around and didn't find it. "Exactly, it's in the car as well."

"Wait, I'll go and get it," he offered, but his wife insisted that he go freshen up while she brought everything in and ordered some pizza and salad, making sure to roll her eyes, knowing what her husband would eat.

"So, what did you order?" Nirmaan asked, walking toward her and rolling up his sleeves.

"Pizza," she said nonchalantly.

"Biwi yaar, you know I don't like eating pizza at night," he replied. Before he could say anything else, Subi turned to him and said, "It's for me. For you, I ordered your stupid salad with chicken and whatever else it has."

"Well then, you definitely deserve a reward," he said as he pulled her onto him, lying back on the sofa.

"Maan?" she said in her familiar tone, playing with his shirt.

"What do you want now, Biwi?" Nirmaan asked, closing his eyes and hugging Subi tightly.

"Can we adopt a pet?" Subi asked, biting her lip.

Nirmaan sat up, looking at her face. "And where did this idea come from?" he asked, brushing her messy hair with his fingers.

"Please, na Maan, please, please, please... pretty please. I'll do whatever you want, but please," she pleaded. Hearing the last line, Nirmaan smirked, busy tucking her hair behind her ear. He would have agreed even if she hadn't said that.

"Whatever I say," he replied, making Subi look up at him. She nodded, albeit reluctantly, unsure of what her husband might make her do.

Nirmaan gave her a quick peck on the lips and stood up, walking toward the kitchen. As he was busy with something in there, the doorbell rang. Subi stood to answer it, thinking the delivery had arrived. Picking up Nirmaan's wallet, she walked to open the door.

Meanwhile, Nirmaan was in the kitchen with a mischievous smirk when a blood-curdling scream echoed through the house. In an instant, he ran out to the living room to see a horrific scene in front of him.
