AUTHOR'S POV

"Maan?!" she gasped, realizing it was her husband.

Nirmaan had a smug smile on his lips, looking intensely at his wife.

"Maan, leave me. Someone might see us," Subi tried to come out of his hold. But Nirmaan, being Nirmaan, was inconsiderate and bent down, taking her lips in his. Holding her chin lightly, he devoured her lips. Subi reciprocated with so much passion.

Her hand settled on his firm chest as they got lost in each other. Pulling away, they both breathed heavily. Subi looked up, his eyes closed.

"Maan?" And just like always, he hummed. "What's wrong?" she asked, her fingers brushing his cheek.

"Are you mad at me?" he asked. "Well..." She stretched the word, and Nirmaan looked up, seeing her pretend to think. "Yes and no," she said, shrugging her shoulders.

He raised his brow in confusion. "No, because you did the right thing and I'm proud of my husband," she said, playing with the collar of his coat.

"And yes, because..."? "Because you didn't tell me anything, and on top of that, you were showing off. Do you even know how it feels when someone talks about having your husband?" Subi had a pout on her lips.

That pout, that damn pout, became his undoing every time. Unable to control his urge any longer, he kissed it, and she looked at him wide-eyed while Nirmaan just smirked.

She hit his chest hard and gave a fake glare. "Ahhhhhoooo... biwi lagti hai yaar" (Ouch, wife, it hurts), he rubbed where she hit him.

"Haan toh lagne ke liye hi maara hai" (Yeah, that's the point), she said, pointing a finger at him. Before he could say anything, someone's footsteps echoed in the room. Subi kissed his cheek and ran from there, worried someone might see her.

It wasn't that she wanted to hide the fact from the world or anything. Neither was she ashamed nor anything. Subi just didn't want to be treated differently, and her Maan already knew that. That's what she loved most about him. He was always so understanding. She didn't even have to explain to him; he just knew everything she needed.

Entering the staff room, she was lost in her thoughts when she bumped into someone. It was Shweta

"What's wrong with you, and why are you so late?" Shweta asked, crossing her arms and tilting her hip a little.

"And why do you think I should answer you?" Subi replied with the same attitude.

Shweta took a step forward, but Subi stood her ground, not ready to back off. Just then, Divya stepped in, placing a hand on Subi's shoulder while another teacher held Shweta's arm, gently pulling her back.

"Let her be. She has a problem with anyone who stands in front of her. Just ignore her," Divya told Subi. "So, what took you so long? I was looking for you," she asked with genuine concern.

"Nothing, something important came up," Subi said, shrugging her shoulders. The day passed quickly, and soon it was time to leave for home. Subi was leaving the school campus when Divya offered her a lift on her bike.

She knew Nirmaan's car would arrive any minute now, so she made an excuse, saying she had some important work to do. Divya smiled and started to leave.

After walking for five minutes, Subi stopped as she remembered that Nirmaan had told her he would pick her up today.

Pressing the brakes, Nirmaan stopped in front of her. Subi jumped into the passenger seat and buckled her seatbelt. "So, biwi, ice cream?" she looked towards him with a smug smile, wiggling her brows.

Nirmaan rolled his eyes. "Please na, Maan... please, please, please," she pleaded, seeing his reaction.

"Biwi, we just ate golgappe two days ago. It's not healthy."

"Haan toh pucha kyun phir?" (Then why did you ask?), she said, turning her face away in mock annoyance.

"Fine..." Nirmaan conceded with a resigned smile. They made their way to their favorite spot, Subi pulling her husband's arm as they crossed the road. By now, Nirmaan knew that once Subi had her heart set on something to eat, she wouldn't listen to anyone.

Subi ordered a plate of golgappe, and as always, Nirmaan didn't. Without missing a beat, Subi picked up a piece and shoved it into his mouth, catching him off guard.

Nirmaan was bewildered for a second, trying to chew while stepping back and bending his face forward to avoid messing up his clothes. Subi burst into laughter, her joy infectious as she watched him struggle.

He tried his best to eat it, but the water was spilling out of his mouth. Despite all these years, he still hadn't mastered the art of eating golgappe.

They both laughed and enjoyed their time together, completely lost in their own world. Unbeknownst to them, a passerby saw them and couldn't believe the scene unfolding. The person watched as they ate, held hands, and flirted openly before getting back into their car, smiles plastered on their faces.

They drove home, their spirits high from the delightful outing. However, as they entered the house, the atmosphere changed dramatically. Nirmaan's blood began to boil at the sight that greeted them. The woman he loathed the most, the woman who had destroyed his trust and his life, was sitting there. Maya.

Maya turned at the sound of their footsteps, a small, almost mocking smile on her face. Seeing her brought back a flood of memories for Nirmaan—memories of betrayal, the day he uncovered her true nature, and the accident that had nearly cost him everything.

His parents sat in the room, their expressions a mix of pity and concern. No one said a word as Maya stood from her seat and walked towards him. She hadn't changed a bit; from her looks to her attitude, everything was the same.

"What are you doing here,?" Nirmaan's voice was cold, barely masking his anger.

Maya's smile widened slightly. "Nirmaan, I came to talk. To explain."

On the other hand, Subi had no idea who this woman was. "Hi, Maan?" Maya said, and Subi's face displayed a mix of shock and confusion, while Nirmaan's eyes were filled with anger.

"How could she call him Maan? Only I can call him that," Subi thought indignantly. Before Maya could say anything else, Nirmaan grabbed Subi's hand and pulled her out of the house.

Subi struggled to keep up with his pace, and in her haste, her foot got caught in her saree, causing her to lose her balance. Her glasses fell to the ground.

"Maan!!" she called out, trying to steady herself. He turned abruptly, "What?" he snapped, regretting his harsh tone the moment the word left his lips. Taking a deep breath, he calmed himself. He looked at his wife, then bent down to pick up her glasses. Carefully cleaning them, he gently placed them back on her face. "Sorry," he said softly.

Nirmaan took her into his embrace and hugged her tightly, for what felt like an eternity. Subi didn't ask any questions, understanding that he needed time. She waited patiently, knowing he would tell her everything when he was ready.
