AUTHOR'S POV

Nirmaan was busy rummaging through the kitchen with a mischievous smirk when a blood-curdling scream pierced the air. The next moment, he dashed into the living room, only to be confronted by a truly horrific scene.
Subi was lying on the floor, her face pale and eyes wide with terror. Kneeling in front of her was a woman clad in a black hoodie and cap, laughing maniacally like a complete psychopath

Without wasting a single second, Nirmaan pushed the woman away and took Subi's trembling hands, pulling her into his embrace in an effort to calm her panic-stricken state.

The woman tumbled to the floor, and her knife clattered next to her. Nirmaan moved forward to pick up the knife, but Subi held him back, her face a canvas of horror. "Maan, no, please," she pleaded, pulling him away. As she did, the woman quickly retrieved the knife and stood up, flinging her cap aside.

To say Nirmaan was shocked would be an understatement. He was frozen in his tracks, staring at the woman's face. Never in a million years had he thought Maya could do something like this.

But there was no time to dwell on this horrifying revelation. Nirmaan stood like an unyielding barrier in front of Subi, shielding her as the deranged woman lunged forward, knife in hand.

Before she could do anything, Nirmaan held her hand in mid air, try taking the knife away from her. Maya tried to pull herself away, screaming pushing and doing everything she could. She was behaving as if she was a mad woman.

"Leave me.. I'll kill her. How dare she, take you away from me?", she barked at Subi.
"Stop it Maya.", he yelled at her. "Subi, call the police, now", he growled looking dead in Maya's eyes.

Running to pick the phone, Subi found the number to commissioner and quickly made a call. He picked after few rings, Subi tells him everything, giving the address.

Nirmaan was still trying to control her, but she was getting crazy by every second and tried to hurt Nirmaan with the knife in her hand, which gives a big cut on his hand making blood oozing.

Seeing Nirmaan bleed, Subi couldn't take it anymore and pulled Maya away, holding her hair from back, at the same time Nirmaan took away the knife.

Giving a tight slap Subi left marks on her cheeks. Nirmaan tan and held her taking her to the nearest room, locking her in and made sure she have no where to run and locked the door.

Nirmaan and Subi clung to each other, her sobs reverberating through the quiet room. Her anguish deepened upon seeing the blood trickling from Nirmaan's hand. "I'm fine...I just—" he began, but she cut him off sharply, her teary eyes blazing.

"Do not say it's a small cut," she snapped.

Nirmaan couldn't help but smile at her fierce concern. "What do I do, how do I stop this bleeding?" she murmured, more to herself than to him.

"Don't you watch movies?" Nirmaan asked casually, causing her to look up in confusion. "Haven't you seen those old Bollywood movies? 'Sari ka pallu phaad kar bandh do' (tear a piece from your sari and tie it)."

Subi rolled her eyes. "Nautanki band karo (stop your drama). Do you have a first aid kit in your car?" she asked, to which he nodded lightly. Subi ran to fetch it and made him sit on the sofa.

"I'm still giving you a chance. I think a sari pallu is a much better option than this bandage," he teased.

"Maan, you're totally crazy. There's a woman inside who wants to kill us, and you're busy crating Bollywood scenes," she said, busying herself with dressing his wound. As she finished, the police arrived.
