Shadow sat outside with his tablet in his arms, still trying to focus on his drawing. But he couldn't help but feel a little down - Sonic was busy flirting with Amy, Rouge was flirting with Knuckles, and Tails was busy studying a butterfly.
Shadow knew that he shouldn't be jealous - after all, Sonic had asked him to take things slow - but he couldn't help but feel a little envious of the attention that Sonic was getting from Amy.
Just then, he heard Tails speak up. "Hey, Shadow," Tails said. "You okay?"
Shadow sighed. "Yeah, I'm fine," he said again.
Tails nodded, looking sympathetic. "I know how you feel," he said. "But you know Sonic - he's just being friendly. He's not interested in Amy like that."
Shadow nodded, but he couldn't shake the feeling of unease that was gnawing at him. "I know," he said. "It's just...hard, you know?"
Tails put a hand on Shadow's shoulder. "I know," he said. "But don't worry. Everything will work out in the end."
Shadow managed a small smile. "Thanks, Tails," he said. "I appreciate it."
Just then, Shadow had an idea. "Hey, why don't we go get everyone something to drink?" he suggested.
Tails nodded eagerly. "Sure!" he said. "I'll come with you."
As they walked to the kitchen, Shadow couldn't help but feel grateful for Tails's company. He knew that he could always count on his friends to be there for him, no matter what.
And as they handed out cold drinks to their friends, Shadow felt a sense of warmth spreading through him. Yes, things were complicated with Sonic, but he knew that he had good friends by his side - and that was all that really mattered.
