On her way outside, back to the McLaren garage, she had bumped into the blonde woman again and made plans to meet her on Monday in a café. Lucia thought it was a bit strange and that Charles might have something to do with this, but she was going to ask him tomorrow.
When she walked into the garage, she was already getting shit from everyone she knew because of the shirt, especially Lando, since he was certain something had happened back at the Ferrari quarters. If this is what Charles wanted her to go through to forgive her, she would do it. She was more stubborn than he was giving her credit for.
Qualifying had been going pretty well, Carlos and Lando had made it to Q3 and everyone couldn't get their eyes off the screen, with only 4 minutes left. Lando was currently P7 and Carlos P6, which was an incredible result.
"Hey do you see that? Leclerc is doing an out lap, why is Verstappen speeding so much?" someone from the pit crew said, who had been watching quali with Lu on the screen.
Seconds later Max had crashed into Charles, which had caused him to crash into the barriers and spun Charles into the other direction into the wall.
Everyone gasped. The garage was silent for a moment.
"Red flag, repeat, red flag, Verstappen and Leclerc crashed." You could hear on Carlos's radio.
Everyone was annoyed, because only 2 minutes of Qualifying had been left, but at the same time worried about what had happened.
Lucia's heart sunk to the ground. There had been no response on Charles's radio for a few seconds, while Max was already getting out of the car on his own.
"I repeat, are you okay?"
"Yes, I'm okay. Can someone help me get out? My feet are stuck" he said.
Finally Lucia was able to breath again. She thought something serious had happened. She quickly made her way out of the garage and over to the Ferrari garage.
Charles was in the medical tent, getting checked by a doctor. Luckily he had suffered no visible injuries. Now they were just making sure everything else was alright.
Suddenly he heard a familiar voice arguing with someone outside. Then he heard it again, and he was sure it was Lu.
"Let her inside, it's okay" he said and just like that Lucia was running into the tent and right into his arms.
She apologized and was worried she had hurt him, but he quickly calmed her down.
"You sure? Everything's alright?" she asked the doctor, which told her again, that Charles had no injuries.
She hugged him again. They stayed like that for a while.
"You had me really worried there for a second" she said, finally letting him go, but grabbing his hands instead.
She just wanted to be near him right now.
"I'm honestly just glad to see that you actually kept the shirt on"
They both laughed, as they got out the tent and they said their goodbye's .
Charles was going to start on P13, he had luckily finished a lap that had been good enough for P3, but had received a grid penalty for replacing some parts of his car, while Max had more or less the same thing, only he would be starting P10. Her brother had gotten P5 and Lando P7 so they were beyond happy.
Now she was at home, scrolling through TikTok, waiting for her brother to come home. Lando was meeting up with a friend and Mary and Carlos were at the beach. They had invited Lucia, but she didn't feel like swimming. All she was thinking about was tomorrow.
