Race day was finally on. Lucia was already at the Redbull quarters drinking her coffee while working on her computer. She was editing some pictures that she had taken over the weekend and was updating the Redbull Instagram page. Her mind and heart were still very conflicted over the whole situation yesterday. Mary had texted her in the evening and this morning, but Lucia hadn't replied yet. She knew that eventually, she had to talk to her friend and just get the whole thing sorted out. Suddenly another coffee cup was placed in front of her and a bag, which smelt like donuts, strawberry donuts, her favorite.
"Figured you needed more caffeine and maybe some sugar" Max said sitting on a chair next to her.
She hadn't really talked to him since their awkward conversation where he had tried to persuade her into confessing her feelings to him which were none existent.
"I know you're probably mad about the crash, and I just wanted to apologize. I know you probably won't believe me but I really did have problems with the car and I didn't want to crash into Charles. I mean I was mad that you went into his driver's room but that was not why I crashed into him. It was an accident." He explained.
She gave him a confused look. How did he know she had been in the Ferrari quarters?
"You don't need to apologize to me Max, did you apologize to him?" Lucia asked.
To her surprise, he nodded. Lucia wondered why Charles hadn't told her this yet. I mean to be fair they hadn't really been talking much yesterday but, somehow he could've mentioned that.
"How do you know I was in his room? Are you having someone following me?" Lucia knew he could go over the limits sometimes so she wouldn't be surprised if he had actually hired someone to watch her.
"No of course not. You were on international television. I saw it on one of the screens"
Lucia froze for a moment. If it had aired on TV lots of people have seen that. Maybe even her boss. Not that it was forbidden, but it did raise a lot of questions and suspicions and a lot of annoying PR work.
"Is it a big thing now? Are people talking about it?" she asked worriedly.
She didn't want her brother to find out this way. Right now they were fighting a bit and if she told him about Charles now, he couldn't be as mad because he had hidden a relationship from her as well. If he found out now through TV, her whole plan to talk to him would be ruined.
"That means you guys are not public yet are you?" Max asked confused but she doesn't answer.
"No, I don't think people noticed it was you, but I guess we'll see when Charles comes into the paddock" he answered and she nods.
"Thank you for the coffee and the amazing donut. I do really need this, but I got to talk to my brother like right now. I'll see you in an hour in the garage for pictures all right?" and with that she storms out of the facility, leaving her Redbull cap on the table.
She was wearing low-waisted black jeans with a black formal vest and her long brown hair was curled beautifully. The race was going to start in about two and a half hours and the paddock was filling up with people like crazy. She was making her way through the crowd, trying to reach the McLaren facility, but before she could enter, Lando stopped her.
"I need to speak with Carlos go away" she said annoyed, but his hand rested on her arm.
"Not now, not before the race. I saw the video from yesterday, I even told you to watch out for cameras you stupid idiot"
