Sitting in the waiting room isn't fun.
Your thoughts slowly start to drive you insane as you think of the person you love. Rose has been in the hospital for about a day, and I still haven't heard anything from the doctors yet.
I occupied myself by taking a trip to the nearest bookstore. I managed to grab a bunch of books from Rose's favorite author, along with a couple of books for me.
But reading won't do me any good now. I can't help but think of the worst scenario that could possibly happen. What if Rose doesn't make it? Who will be there for me, and love me unconditionally no matter what? Who will I marry? I planned to propose to her next year, because honestly I can't wait.
I can't describe in words how much I love Rose. She's beautiful, smart. Hilarious.
Losing her would mean losing the most important thing in my life. I never loved anybody like I love her.Please. Don't take her from me.
I started to daze off when I heard the hospital door open. Out came a man who I assumed was the doctor. He looked to be about fifty, with gray hairs sticking up all over his head. He tried (unsuccessfully) to do a comb over, and I would've laughed if the situation wasn't as dire as it was.
He looked stressed, and a jolt of worry ran up my spine. Why would he be stressed?
"Are you Rosie?" He asked, quietly shutting the door behind him.
I sat up. "Uh, yes." I whispered.
The silence in the room was unbearable. You could hear a single pin drop.
The doctor fiddled in his seat uncomfortably, and placed a sweaty hand on my shoulder.
"I'm sorry to inform you of this, but.."
No. No. This can't happen. Rose is still alive beyond that door. She has to be.
I love her.
"Rose passed abruptly. She was doing well, until her heart monitor went crazy. We're afraid she had a heart attack. I'm so sorry."
I laughed, and laughed, and laughed.
A bitter laugh."You couldn't save her? Really? Is that your excuse?" I demanded, ignoring the tears flooding from my eyes.
This can't be happening. It's fake.
The doctor looked sullen, eyes grim.
"We did everything we could. We're deeply sorry for your loss."And with those final words, I got up from my chair, and ran out of the room.
