Is it possible to be dead, but still alive?
My heart stopped. I'm sure of it. When I place my hand to my chest I hear no heartbeat, just emptiness. It actually feels sort of hollow, now that I think about it.
But I'm pretty sure I'm still alive.
So far I can still smell, taste, and hear.
I really hope I'm not buried. I'm not sure.
I don't smell compost, which is probably a good thing. Can I be in Heaven? If so, I'm actually pretty disappointed. I imagined something more, well, spectacular. Maybe a harp here and there. I'm definitely not in Hell. I haven't really done anything deserving of it; unless you count stealing a package of gum from a corner store when I was ten.
I doubt I'm in either one, but where else could I be?
Everything is dark. I can't make out anything. Even when I place my hand in front of my face, I can't see any details. Just vast empty space.
I must have stayed like that for over an hour, although I cannot be sure. Time is probably measured differently here.
I think I fell asleep. I don't know how that's possible but it was.
"Rose?" I heard someone ask. I opened my eyes to find Rosie hovering over me. She looked as if she were glowing. I smiled sleepily, pulling her into the bed next to me. She laughed, although there was something a little off. "We have no time for this." She said, still smiling. I raised my eyebrows in confusion. I didn't think we had anything to do today.
I went to reach for her arm. Suddenly, I felt something wet and sticky. I pulled it in for a closer examination and I realized the entire bed was soaked with the substance.Blood.
It was everywhere, covering every inch of the room. Rosie shrieked and pulled her arm back. "YOU WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO SEE IT!" She cried. Confusion and disgust flood over me. "See what?" I asked. I rolled out of bed, and looked over at her legs. Dozens of cuts aligned her thighs, each one symmetrical to the opposite side. As I looked closer I noticed a noose tied around her neck, but it wasn't attached to anything.
"Rosie? What is this?" I demanded, grabbing both of her wrists. She hissed and kicked my stomach, making me fly backwards on to the chair behind me. The walls were oozing blood.
"YOU WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO DIE! " She screamed, opening the door. "YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO LIVE! I WANT TO DIE, NOT YOU!"
I awoke with a cry.
What happened while I was gone?
