Prologue - Easter Banner

You stare at yourself in the mirror and inspect the reflection of your newly dyed hair. You brought your hair up to touch the once black, now h/c hair. (If your hair is already black just pretend theyre different shades or smth.) You smile, content and happy with your choice. As you continue admiring your new hair, you see the familiar white hair of Cai walking over to you. Once he stands behind you with his hands crossed, you turn around to look at him. Before you could say anything, he hits your face with some dusty coupons, making you cough from the dust. With an annoyed frown on your face, you push his hand away to see his insufferable smug smile. "I found cake coupons under a couch." He says as you stare at him.

"..."

"You what?"

"I found cake coupons under the couch!" He says cheerfully with a hint of pride, mischief hidden in his orange and blue eyes. "Wha- Why were you looking under the couch?" You asked as you cross your arms. "Don't worry about it. Instead, worry about paying for my birthday cake after I use this coupon to buy your birthday cake." He waves the coupon at your face and you slap it away. "Do you even know where the bakery for those coupons are? And they're so dirty..." You said as you pointed at the dust on the coupons which coated half of them, and for some reason there was grey hair stuck to it. "Ehhh, don't worry about it. The address is there, so who cares anyway, free food." He said as he took you by the arm and dragged you out the hair salon. On any other day, you would have instantly stopped because hold the fuck up first, you just found cake coupons under the couch in the hair salon and instantly plan to use them up at this random bakery? But then again, this was Cai and he did pay for the hair dye so you just roll you eyes and let him pull out the google maps and find the bakery.

He stares at the map on the phone for a minute, before looking at you. "Yyyy/nnnn how do I use google maps again?" You stare at him with a deadpan, before snatching the phone out of his hands. You sight as you recall the numerous times he tried to use a map, and failed miserably and pathetically. "I'm not even gonna bother trying to teach you again, you're gonna forget it again. Just give me the address." He laughed before eventually you two find your way over the bakery. As you enter the shop, your gaze instantly moves towards [insert favourite cake]. Cai walks up to the counter to give the dirty coupon. He placed into onto the counter and the worker silently stared at the coupon as Cai made his order. Meanwhile, you went over to look at [least favourite cake], which was Cai's favourite cake. You look over to see Cai had used up all his coupons, so you make Cai's order and pay.

When you ordered the cake, you could see the excitement in his face as his eyes were practically radiating with light at this point. You could see him staring at the [least fav cake] on display. A thought seemed to have struck him as he then looked at you. "Did you watch Nine Realms yet?" He asked as he tilted his head at you. Your head snapped towards him as you stared at him. He seemed to be instantly intimidated when he saw how upset you were. "I did. And honestly I was impressed." Cai blinked as he looked at you at confusion.

"When I was about to watch the show, I set the bar as low as I could. And yet somehow, someway, the show managed to get even lower than my already low expectations and utterly and completely disappointed me." Cai blinked again. "Ah."

"Ah indeed. Ah indeed, Cai." Cai rolled his eyes as he went over to get our cakes. I picked up mine and he kept his. "So do you plan on getting me any other gi-" You cut him off before he could say anything. "Yeah, I already sent you a gift!" You said pride. "Wait- really? What did you send?" He said with a smile. "Thats for me to know, and you to eventually find out. Hopefully."

You looked outside of your window as you looked up at the bright sky. It was your birthday, and it seemed as if the stars themselves shined brighter on the day of your birth. You watched as the clouds parted and revealed a full moon, it seemed as thought it was as bright as the sun itself. You sighed as you stretched your arms. You should probably do your dailies already, you've ignored them all day in favour of going out to get birthday gifts for each other with Cai. Eventually, you both got sidetracked by a singular stray cat, and ended up following it until you both got lost. And then you had to use google maps for him. Again.

You heard a ping on your phone beside you. As you picked it up, You saw Cai's message on discord and clicked on it.

Cai: New banner dropped.

Cai: [image of a limited time banner. It was of a black egg and a white egg]

Vee: Ayo easter banner? 🤨

Cai: Im not joking this is actually on my genshin.

Cai: [video of him in genshin pulling on the banner. It was a golden shooting star, and cut off when when it ended]

Cai is offline

Vee: The easter bunny really said no witnesses.

You exited the group chat and turned around as you made your way to the pc. You opened up genshin and squinted your eyes as you saw the blinding white light, the words hoyoverse appeared on the screen. The bright white faded away into the night time screen, you watched as the game loaded up so you could get those primogems already. You were about to click the door when a sudden textbox appeared on your screen instead.

"Are you ready to enter teyvat?"
"[yes] [no]"

You raised your eyebrows at the words displayed. Maybe this was some new update? You payed no mind to it as you moved the golden arrows towards the yes option. You clicked on the new banner, and lo and behold is was the "easter banner".  Was this some new joke banner made by hoyoverse? Either way, you did a ten pull to see what happened. Your eyes widened in surprise when you saw the golden star. It was then, that the world went black.
