'I got addicted to you so easily'.~
Natasha asks me to help train our newest Avenger. As one of the youngest, I've been asking for more responsibility and now I've got it.
I knock on her door, preparing to introduce myself. She's listening to music but I can't quite make out what song is playing. When the door opens, she's juggling what seems like a hundred things in her arms. "Need some help there?" I ask, taking a book that she's just about to drop.
"Thank you," she smiles as she steps aside and lets me into her half-decorated room. I look around at the large stack of books, the photo prints, an acoustic guitar and fairy lights hanging over her bed.
"Are you a fan of reading?" I ask, taking a closer look at the book in my hand before adding it to her growing stack. It's Jane Austen's Persuasion, a novel I haven't had the chance to explore yet. Personally, I tend to lean towards contemporary fantasy novels. Despite the abundance of magic and the consequences it's had on my life, I can't seem to resist the appeal of alternate universes where anything is possible - that's what captivates me."Yes," she nervously chuckles, "it's a great way to escape." I nod my head in agreement, eager to know more about her.
"What are you escaping from?" She turns to look at me, her brunette locks swaying at the motion, and shakes her head.
"Nothing important." Her sighs tell me that she doesn't want to talk about it but there's a glow in her eyes that say differently. She's remembering something, and I'm guessing it's emotional. I shake the thoughts from my head, knowing better than to let my curiosity get the better of me, and quickly change the subject.
"So, I don't know if anyone told you but I'll be helping you with your training," I tell her. The soft red glow in her eyes fades as a small smile appears.
"Did you volunteer or are you being forced to do that?" Wanda enquires. I wasn't expecting her to ask that and I'm not sure how to answer. I don't want to lie but, at the same time, I don't want to hurt her feelings.
"No, no I didn't volunteer," I admit, "but it's really not a problem, I'm happy to do it." She looks at me, her head tilting as if she's waiting for me to reveal something else. I notice the red glow again and I wonder what that has to do with her powers. Natasha told me she had some kind of telekinesis, but she also said that Wanda doesn't trust her powers so I can't help but wonder if she knows about the glow in her eyes.
"Well, if you don't want to, you can always tell me," she mutters as she steps closer to me and tucks a strand of hair behind my ear. Her breath flows onto my neck, sending shivers down my body. I feel something in my stomach flip. Almost like butterflies.
I feel my breaths get a little heavier and already I know that I need to get out of there. There are things I want to happen, that could happen, that can't. Not when I've just met this girl. And definitely not when I'm in the middle of trying to stop my relationship with Peter from crashing and burning. "I should get going," I mutter, clearing my throat.
As she takes a step back, her hands drop to her side and I realise how close they'd been to my thighs. "It was nice meeting you," she stops for a second and I'm not sure if she knows my name, "Y/N."
"Did you forget my name?"
"Clint only mentioned it once but don't worry, I won't be forgetting you easily."
