'We never realise how frozen we are until someone starts to melt our ice'

~

The rest of our mission goes just as we planned and before we know it we're back at the tower. Natasha and Clint will take over from here. Peter still isn't here when we get back.

"Well, how was it?" Natasha asks, walking up from behind me.

"Oh, hey, I thought you would've left by now," I say, "it went okay. Easy enough." She takes hold of my arm, tilting her head ever so slightly. Right. She wasn't talking about the mission. Of course, she wasn't.

"We, um, you know," I stutter, "shared a shower." Her jaw drops. Her eyes widen. She doesn't know what to say. How did I let this get so far?

"Shouldn't you be getting ready to leave?"

"Yeah, but I could stay. Steve won't mind taking over." That's crazy, she shouldn't do that. But I can't help but thank her. Because the truth is, I need her. Other than Wanda, she's the only other person knowing what's going on. The only person I can talk to. The only person who can help me to try and make sense of this.

That night, Natasha settles down in my room and my problems soon feel like nothing more than gossip. "So, start at the beginning," she tells me.

"Well, I first saw her when she was moving into her room. Her first day here. She was struggling and I helped out a little. Nothing happened but it felt like something was going to happen, you know? And then we began our training together. I walked in on her changing, she understood me and," I stop realising that's where everything really started.

"And what?" Natasha asks eagerly as if she can't guess what happened.

"She kissed me. Natasha, she kissed me and everything just came crashing down. That's where it started."

There's a soft knock at the door and before I have time to react, Natasha has jumped off of the bed and ushered Wanda inside. Great.

"Y/N," Natasha teases, "was just telling me about when you first kissed her."

"Did she tell you how long it took her to kiss me?" Wanda smirks, sitting down next to me. I feel my cheeks grow red. I had wanted to kiss her every second after she'd kissed me - after I met her even. Yet for so long I'd been able to pretend that I didn't until I couldn't.

"It was after my date with Peter," I tell Natasha, giving her an idea of our timeline. That's when the smile fades off of her face and I remember that we're not here for harmless gossip. This is just the opposite. This is harmful, someone is going to get hurt. People have already gotten hurt.

"I'll do it," I state. Wanda looks at me, surprised and relieved at the same time. Natasha looks at me, confused, waiting for one of us to tell her what's going on. "I'm going to break up with Peter."
