DABI

"Do I really have to do this?" I groaned pinching the bridge of my nose.

The voice in my ear nearly shouted into the receiver. Pulling the phone away from my ear in annoyance, I rolled my eyes.

Yep.

I had no choice. I was going to be alone with her for several days. Overhaul was sending the two of us to a secluded part of the island where we could "train" without being disturbed. He didn't entail what training it was but it couldn't have been good.

I had my suspicions that the whole training idea was a charade. He wanted me out of the facility for a reason and said so.

On the phone Shigiraki was telling me to go along with Overhaul's plans for now until we can discover what it is he's up to. In the meantime, he had someone else on the inside that would keep an eye on the facility while I was gone.

"Whatever, have Kurogiri contact me if anything changes." I hung up and shoved the phone into my pocket.

Rubbing a hand over my face I sighed and pinched the bridge of my nose. This was ridiculous, I hated games.

"Let's just get this fucking over with." I groaned, leaving my room.

Waiting outside of her room was Overhaul. He leaned against the wall with his arms folded across his chest.

"What?" I asked in an annoyed tone. I was in no mood for his bullshit today.

"Just here to make sure it all goes well. You know I expect her to come back trained and not burned to a crisp." He raised a brow.

"No promises." I rolled my eyes. Overhaul sighed and pushed off of the wall to stand toe to toe with me.

"Your sarcastic attitude aside, you are the only one I trust enough to train her and make sure she can handle...pain."

"I don't think I know what you mean." I narrowed my eyes.

"You need to break her completely. The tests results of withholding blood from her came back astounding and quite quickly. I need to see what she can do while being served blood, but under extreme duress." He shrugged. There was a sick glint in his eye that I recognized in my own from time to time. A masochist.

"You want me to torture her?" I tilted my chin to the side to stare down Overhaul.

"That's such a dirty word, but yes to be quite frank. I want you to break her. Do what you have to, but I need her back in sustainable condition. Few days of training and then a couple of days for her to heal. Also take notes on how quickly she heals. It's vital to the tests. Have fun." Overhaul tossed me a set of keys before sauntering down the hallway.

I caught the keys with ease and glared at the back of his head as he walked away. I used the keys to open the door and stood in the doorway.

The first thing I noticed was the sickly sweet stench of blood. Seeing red stains all over the ground made sense. A broken chain was still attached to a spike in the center of the dirt floor.

Scanning the room, I found her huddled in a dark corner. Her glowing yellow eyes were wide in fear. She trembled at my approach.

Seeing her afraid like this sent a twinge of pity through me. I knew what it was like to be afraid. To be afraid of the monster you could become.

Fuck me. I sighed inwardly.

"Come on it's time to go." I sighed holding out my hand.

She looked up at me then. Fear and mistrust were clear behind her eyes. Still her pale hand reached out and took mine.
