School

Kathrine: Anaiah, how old are you?

Me: Um I am 1,043 years old.

Kathrine: How old were you when you turned?

Me: 26 I think. Why?

Kathrine: No reason. You just don't really look older than 22.

Me: The spell my mother cast on us did that I guess. I do not really know how to explain it. It restored our youth I guess. I don't really know. It helps though. The younger we start out in a place the longer we can stay. If I looked my age I wouldn't be able to stay in places for as long as I usually do.

Kathrine: That makes sense. Are you ready?

Me: Yeah.

Kathrine: Ok, lets go. I think our family has already left.

Me: *I look at her with a smile. Did she just refer my family as her own?* Our family huh?

Kathrine: Yes? What's wrong?

Me: Nothing at all. *I kiss her head and take her hand* Lets go.

I made it where Kathrine and I only attended the two classes right after lunch. I know she does not want to be here so I did the bare minimum. We get into my car and drive to the school. It is very cloudy. I am pretty sure that is why Carlisle picked this place. All of them shine in the light. Poor things. The more gloomy it is, the more often they can be out with people. Kathrine and I get to the school and walk into the lunch room. We get a lot of heads that turn our way. Hearing the conversations being changed to the eleven new students is funny. I see a group of people sitting at a table talking to a short girl with brown hair. I start to listen to their conversation. I gather that the girl's name is Bella and she is also new. They are talking about the Cullens. More specificly Edward. I have watched them steal glances at each other. This is amusing. I go sit with my siblings.

Kol: Glad for you two to join us.

Me: Yeah, yeah. What has been going on?

Bekah: Well no one has stopped talking about us since we arived today. I almost wish I can turn off my hearing.

Me: Yeah, hopefully it will stop soon. I will be back. The bathroom is calling. *I run to the bathroom to relive myself and walk back. As I am walking back I see someone approach Kathrine*

Unknown guy: Hello, I am Jaxson Johnson. My friends call me JJ, or Jay.

Kathrine: *She stops her conversation with Bekah to speak* Hello Jaxson. *She turns back to Bekah*

Jaxson: Sorry, I just wanted to know if I could get your number. You are really pretty and I would like to take you out if that is ok.

This is not funny. I would snap his neck if we were not in a room full of people. Don't over react Anaiah. You are secure in your relationship, you know she has you. Just watch what happens.

Kathrine: *She looks at him for a second* No.

Jaxson: No? Why not?

Kathrine: Not that it is any of your busniess, but I am in a relationship.

Jaxson: Well I don't see him.

Kathrine: Does that matter?

Jaxson: Yea it does. If you were mine I would not leave your side.

Kathrine: Well, I am not "yours". You can go now.

Nik: Naiah, have anything to say? *Nik looks at me with a devious smile. He knows this is making me mad*

Me: Just waiting on this boy to leave so I can enjoy the rest of lunch.

Jaxson: Who are you?

Kathrine: My partner.

Jaxson: Glad to meet the competition.

Me: There isn't any competition kid.

Jaxson: Of course there is. *He gets closer to me* You think she will really stay with you over me? *He pats my shoulder* Good luck.

Emmett: *He takes Jaxson's hand off of me* Back up man. Don't start with us.

Jaxson: *He backs up some* May the best person win. *He smiles smugly and walks away*

Me: This is why I don't do high school. Toxic masculinity is everywhere.

Eli: I am surprised you stood there and listened to that. I would have thought you would have done something.

Me: Kathrine would have hurt me. *I laugh a little*

Kathrine: I do enjoy violence, but sometimes she can get out of hand.

Me: Lies and slander.

Nik: Yeah she is right Naiah.

Me: You are the one to talk Niklaus. Anyway, thank you Emmett.

Emmett: Any time. You guys are family.

Me: *I walk over to Jasper and Alice* How are you two?

Alice: I am ok. Jasper?

Jasper: I'm fine. *He seems to be holding his breath*

Me: You do not seem ok. Why are you holding your breath?

Jasper: It is easier for me.

Me: Breath Jas. I promise I won't let you hurt anyone. Breath and focus on something that will ground you here in this moment. Think of Alice, what made you fall for her?

Jasper: How she has never given up on me. *He says staring into her eyes* I can never thank her enough for showing me what love is and that I may be worthy of a family.

Me: *I look at him moved by his words. I also notice that he is breathing. He is controlling it* Good job Jasper. I promise with some effort this will get easier.

Jasper: Thank you.

Kathrine: I didn't know you had a heart. *She says teasingly*

Me: Out of everyone you should know I have one, considering that you have it. *I say smiling at her*

Kathrine: Simp.

Me: Proudly.
