His name was Kilo and let's just say our history wasn't that complicated... whereas LeTarius was my first, Kilo was my teacher... even being locked up, there were still ways to get your nut if you knew the right people and career criminal Kilo knew everybody. He was a bit older than me, 19 though he looked older, and from the second I got locked up he took me under his wing..... That ended once he found a new student. Was I hurt? Not really because when I got out my plan was to forget him and everything that happened in that place, and I did exactly that; the second my papers were processed I left him and everything behind. Honestly, I never expected to see him again and yet here he was standing in front of me... smiling like the damn devil, lust filled his eyes and there weren't many dudes who scared me but Kilo.... he just had this thing about him that made him a little intimidating. Nazeer watched us closely, seeming to understand that there was some history there and I was almost certain this harmless interaction would get back to Quran. Lucci on the other hand couldn't take his eyes off Kilo which I found odd because he was with Slayer. Is it wrong to speak to your ex if there weren't any bad feelings? I needed to think of something quick because it was becoming awkward.
"So umm... we were about to head out for lunch, wanna join us?" Lucci asked breaking through the awkward silence, I shot him an evil look but the damage was already done. Kilo shrugged and began following us out to Lucci's car, while we were walking (Lucci insisted on parking in the very back of the parking lot) Lucci started asking questions. "Y'all fucked didn't y'all?" He whispered, once again I could tell Nazeer was listening so I had to choose my words carefully.
"I thought you wanted to know what happened at my house?" I asked deflecting the question. "Which by the way, how the fuck did that story even get out? The only people that were there were me, my mom, Loyalty, Clévon, and the two dudes that were fuckin him."
"We can discuss that at lunch, I want to know about him..." Lucci said glancing back at Kilo who was walking behind us. "He's looking at your ass...." Lucci whispered and it was at this point I decided to take my ass back inside but Lucci wouldn't let me. "Nazeer you drive..." Lucci said getting into the passenger seat which left me in the back with Kilo.
"Relax Semaj, you're making this way more awkward than it needs to be... I'm not even on that type of time, I made a promise to my mom that I would graduate... that's my only focus. Though there's nothing wrong with us catching up." Kilo said, maybe he had a point... making a big deal out of this made it seem like I still had feelings which wasn't the case.
"I'm just surprised to see you... that definitely wasn't on my Bingo card for this month." I said and Kilo started laughing. "So when did you get out?" I asked trying to keep the conversation flowing, I hated awkward silence so the more I talked the less awkward I felt. We spent most of the ride catching up, Lucci chiming in every few sentences and Nazeer focused on the road... though I noticed him texting someone discreetly.
"Do you still want to be an investigative reporter?" Kilo asked as we walked into the restaurant, I nodded and he didn't say anything but I noticed he had stopped walking, then he pulled me to the side while Naz and Lucci kept walking to the table. "How would you like to get some experience in that field? I want to hire you for a job... I need help with something and you're the perfect person to handle it." Kilo said.
"I uhh.... huh?" I asked wondering where this came from.
"I literally just thought about it as we were walking in... I'll tell you the details a little later but right now I think we should get to the table, your friends are giving us weird looks." Kilo said walking off before I could even respond.
"How do y'all know each other?" Lucci asked as soon as we sat down at our table.
"We were locked up together." Kilo said as if it weren't a big deal and obviously, Lucci knew there was way more to the story. "Can you please stop looking around you're making me nervous." Kilo said to Naz who seemed to be distracted.
