When Andy returned home, he grabbed a book of empty pages and wrote down what Peter had told him that had actually happened.
"I still can't believe that the queen's story isn't completely true." Andy thought. "But why would she attack one who didn't attack first? She is normally kind and fair with every creature..."
____________________________Back at the Dragonite Mountains, Peter sits in his cave. He was waiting for someone. Eventually, a young fairy arrives.
"Hey, Pixie," Peter said with a chuckle.
"Peter, I know I said you are allowed to call me that but I do prefer my name." The fairy said a bit sternly but couldn't stay upset.
"Sorry, Melody. And you are quite bad at being stern."
Melody looked at Peter. "I know but I can never stay mad at someone..."
Peter smiled at Melody. "So? I wouldn't ever want to be the poor soul to deal with an angry Melody."
"Yeah, I guess..." Melody agreed sadly.
Peter noticed. "Alright, what's going on," He asked."I- I might not be able to come to visit you anymore..." Melody started to cry.
"Hey, don't cry. Just tell me what happened."
"The queen spirit is making it much harder to leave the forest to get to the mountains. I almost got caught earlier. I had to use my flute to make the guard who saw me forget he ever did."
"Yeah, you said once before you don't like to use your flute against others."
" I'm already being forced to not tell a soul what I know about you," Melody told Peter. "I want to visit you. You're my friend, but I don't want to be in trouble... Just look what the Queen spirit did to you. I'm scared of what she might do to me if I'm caught."
Peter didn't like to see his friend sadden by the fact that she might have to stop seeing her own friend. He thought of something.
"Then don't visit me, Melody. If you are too scared of the consequences then don't return to the mountains."
Melody was shocked, "But we are friends Peter. I-"
"Don't let our friendship be the thing that gets you in a lot of trouble," Peter informed her. "I don't want to be the reason you get hurt. You're still a kid."
Melody cried. "But I want to come to see you. It's my favorite part of every week. I know I'm just a kid, but if I never visit, you'll be here all alone and lonely."
"I know kid. You are always happy to see me, but I wouldn't be happy if I learn that one day you get caught and get hurt trying to visit me. I want you to visit me too, but not if it puts you at risk. I am willing to risk loneliness for your safety. Besides, if that spirit actually hurts a kid, then let herself be damned." Peter said with a slight smile.
Melody smiled a bit. "Yeah...I just wish you weren't banished here, then I could visit whenever without having to worry. Why did the damn queen banish you anyways?! You did nothing wrong!"
"First, watch your language. You are a kid." Peter lightly scolded Melody for swearing. "Second, that spirit is nothing but an anxious, scared, old woman. Like me, she is the last of her kind. I watched the last few of her kind die all those years ago. But her kind had done the same. It was a war but we are the last of our kinds."
"Wow... I never knew that about the queen... But why did she banish you?" Melody asked.
"You take care of the egg before the serpent has hatched."
Melody was confused, "What does that mean?"
"It means you shall deal with something in the moment rather than waiting for it to get worse. The spirit must have thought I was 'evil and dangerous' like the rest of my kind. Hence, the situation I'm in now." Peter informed Melody.
"And everyone says she's kind and fair..." Melody chimes.
"She may be, but I think it's about time you head back kid."
Melody looked sad. "Do not return if it gets too dangerous or risky."'"Okay, Peter...Take care, alright?" Melody asked as she gave her friend a hug.
"I'll try. Now you be safe kid."
"Bye!" Melody said as she flew back to her home.
"Bye Kid!" Peter watches as Melody flies home.
"She better stay safe. Those people don't know what that spirit is capable of..."
Peter went deeper into his cave for the night.
