"You've been acting weird since the party" Miko points out as the two sit next to each other on the bench, waiting for practice to start.
"Weird, how?" Brooke wonders, glancing over at him. Miko shrugs, glancing back at the stands before looking at Brooke again.
"I mean, things have been weird between you and Darcie. I tried bringing it up with her but she had no clue what I was talking about" Miko explains, retying his cleats.
Brooke thinks back to that night, when Darcie was so drunk she kissed Brooke. Sure it was only for a second and Darcie was usually that flirty when she was drunk, but they had never kissed before. In fact, Brooke had never kissed a girl before, ever.
So for that to happen, and with her best friend, she wasn't sure what to think, though she didn't know her awkwardness to the situation was that obvious to those around her. Darcie was probably acting clueless because she was clueless. I mean, the girl was drunk. No way she remembers kissing her, right?
"It's nothing, man. Maybe it's just the shock that I managed to make first-line is all" Brooke waves it off and Miko pats her on the shoulder, smiling broadly.
"I can't wait to watch you kick-ass on the field. I'll be your number one fan!" Miko bounces excitedly.
"I'm pretty sure you saved that title for someone else...another Lahey perhaps?" Brooke nods over at Isaac who was practicing with one of the other players and his eyes widen.
"You can see his abs through the jersey..." he mutters and Brooke elbows him, grimacing.
"Dude, come on. That's my brother you're talking about" Brooke points out and he shrugs.
"Yeah, your brother who's incredibly fit yet they still somehow consider him a loser. It's okay, that just makes him more available for me" Miko brings up and Brooke rolls her eyes.
"If you ever work up the nerve to hold a conversation with him" She jabs and he nods with determination.
"One day" He assures her as Coach blows the whistle.
"Let's go! One-on-one's from up top! Jackson! Take a long stick today. Atta boy" Brooke and Miko move to line up with the others while Jackson, the captain of the lacrosse team, grabs a long stick, setting up to help protect the goal.
One-on-ones start with Brooke and Miko all the way at the back of the line while they watch each player take a turn against Jackson, none succeeding at getting past him. "First day of practice as first-line. Hope you're ready" Brooke hears from behind her and notices her brother smirking down at her.
"I think you should be the one worried. Don't be too upset when you're not Coach's favorite Lahey anymore" Brooke quips and Isaac chuckles.
"Uh, hey Isaac" Miko had turned around to look back at him as well, waving awkwardly at Isaac who sends him a nod back.
"Hey, Miko. I see you're a benchwarmer like your brother now" Isaac brings up and Miko laughs nervously.
"Uh, you...noticed...?" He trails off nervously and Isaac shrugs.
"Seeing as you're on my team now and hang around my sister, it's kind of hard not to" Isaac points out. Miko blushes, turning back around to face front and Isaac raises an eyebrow at his sister who shrugs.
They turn back to watch the action to see Scott get slammed to the ground by Jackson. Brooke watches as Coach laughs, walking towards the boy and most likely mocking him as Isaac shakes his head.
"I never understood how he was hired on to coach high schoolers and teach." Isaac brings up and Brooke laughs.
"Is he that bad?" She wonders and Isaac scoffs.
