Hudson

We were ready and waiting for the girls to show up anytime. We both were extremely nervous. I just want tonight to go well and with them meeting our parents just adds more nerves on top the ones we already have.

I could not help but fidget at the cuffs of my jacket in anticipation for the girls to get here. The driver let me know they were five minutes out and also complimented our lady friends. He said they were the most respectful young ladies he has ever met.

I saw the limo coming up the driveway towards the front of the house and my heart is thumping in my chest. I feel like I cannot breathe and I am going to pass out any moment. The door opens and out comes the girls. My eyes instantly meet with Meysa.

I cannot help my wandering eyes from checking her out head to toe. "You are beautiful." I stated as I gently grabbed her hand giving the top a soft kiss causing her to blush.

"Will you join me?" she gave me a small smile. "Of course. I would love to." Her voice sent shivers through me and made me feel like I was ready for anything to come my way as long as I had her standing by me. I escorted her inside where everyone else was gathered.

I felt her grip tighten around my forearm as she saw more people coming into her view. I placed my other hand on top of hers and gave it a gently squeeze. "I got you Meysa." She smiled as we continued into the ballroom.

I felt Nyle nudge my other arm as he escorted Lacey beside us and knew now was the time to get this over with and go ahead and introduce them to our parents. I saw Mother and Father walking our way and now it was me getting nervous again. I felt like I was sweating in places you should not ever feel sweat. If there was a time to run and disappear it would be now.

"Hello my handsome boys." Mother said as she hugged us both. Nyle was the first to speak. "Mom, dad, I would like you meet Lacey Dannell." He gestured to Lacey. "Hello, it is very nice to meet you." Lacey said as she stuck out her hand to my mother. Mom smiled and returned the simple handshake gesture. Father gave her a smile and nodded in respect to her as she did the same.

"Mom, dad. I would like you both to meet my date. Meysa." Before I could finish mother spoke for me "Collins?" This caught all four of our attention. How the hell did mom know her name. "Mom?" I questioned but she just kept looking at Meysa.

"I am so sorry dear please forgive my manners. You just look like an old friend of mine." She said to Meysa who seemed to brush it off. "It is no problem. It is an honor to meet you both." They shook hands but something was off. Meysa is wearing a mask so how does she look that familiar.

I would question my parents later but now is about Meysa. I escorted her to the dance floor to share a few dances with the most beautiful human in my world. The night was going so great I did not want it to end. Dancing with her on the dance floor made the rest of the world disappear but I knew I had to have this conversation with her. No matter what happens she deserves to know the truth and the entire truth.

After a few hours at the ball I knew now was better than any other time. "Meysa, can I talk to you in private?" she nodded and took my hand. I walked her to the gazebo at the other end of the property by the ocean. We had a beautiful cove in there. I thought she would enjoy the view.

"Wow Hudson this is absolutely beautiful." She began looking around and I swear I saw stars in her eyes. I could not stop myself from kissing her. So much passion flowed out of me into this kiss. It was like I may never get the chance again. In all honesty after tonight I may not get to.

"Wow, um Hudson where did that come from?" she asked as we both panted slightly for air. "Meysa I have something I need to tell you." I said slowly moving away from her. "What is wrong Hudson?" I could hear the concern in her voice but I was more worried about the aftermath.

"Meysa, I love you. I know you are falling for me as I am for you every single day. I know you are all about truth and no secrets. I do not want to keep anything from you Meysa." I said looking deep into her eyes. "You are scaring me Hudson, is everything okay? What are you talking about?" I took a deep breath knowing it was now or never.

"Meysa I have not lied to you but hid some things from you. Just hear me out first. My name is Hudson Prince of the Western Seas." Her face contorted in confusion. "I will go to the end of the world for you. I would give up everything for you. I love you Meysa, you are my soulmate."

I then walked a bit into the water and sat down. Which I know caused her more confusion. "Please do not be afraid." I then removed my shirt and pants. "Hudson, what are you doing?" I could tell I was worrying her. I then transformed slowly into my merman self.

Her eyes were bulging and her mouth opened in shock. "What in the hell are you?" I could tell she was scared and I transformed back. I put on my pants and tried to walk to her but she stopped me. "Please just don't. I can't right now." She then began crying and ran away from me. I tried to catch her but she jumped in the limo and took off.

My heart was slowly breaking. I knew in my heart she needed time and I would give that to her and now was better than any to confront my mother about what she was hiding. I needed to keep my mind off of what just happened. So I turned and marched back into the castle.

"Mother, we need to talk now." I stated and she turned to face me. "I know. First how did she take the news?" I took a deep breath, "She needs time but I need answers." She nodded and motioned to the chair in front of her and father sat next to her.

"There is a lot we need to discuss. Your brother is with Lacey so I trust you Hudson to relay the information. Honey, I need you to remain calm because one outburst and this conversation is over. Am I clear?" I knew this was serious with her demanding things from father that way.

"Twenty years ago I met this Siren. She was different than all the others. This was right before the huge war and the king of Sirens was killed. This siren was caring, generous, and wanted peace. I became friends with her. I would sneak off to meet her. She taught me a lot about sirens. Like did you know they make their teeth that way by their evil doings. She said it was like a repercussion of their bad deeds. I taught her about us and she taught me about them.

I did not see her as the enemy. I saw her as my friend. During the blue moon when she would shift she did not go to repopulate. She enjoyed learning new things. I went with her. She ended up falling in love with a man. Head over heels in love. All she wanted was him and I decided to help her. I knew a witch on the land and contacted her. She gave her a potion to remain in human form but with every bit of magic is a cost. She would only live for twelve more years or remain a siren. She chose love. I lost my friend that day to love and I was happy for her but I knew she had a death sentence waiting for her."

Mothers' eyes filled with tears telling the story of her and her friend. I felt tears in my eyes but I understood. I would give up anything for Meysa.

I then connected the dots as I snapped my head back up to my mother. "It can't be." I stated but seemed to be ignored. "You befriended a Siren?" Father questioned. "You should chose your words wisely my King. We were arranged to be mated together. The day I ran into her I was going to flee. I did not know you or want to but she convinced me to give you a chance that maybe I would fall in love with you and I did."

I knew this was time for me to make my exit because things were heating up between my parents. There was so much swarming through my mind I had to try and figure it out.
