Hudson
The gap in her memory was not making sense. I rang Nyle, I knew he was on a date with Lacey but this was important if it was anywhere close to what I was thinking.
"Nyle, you need to come home now we may have a serious problem. I need you to run over the surveillance from behind the house last night." I did not give him time to respond I just hung up.
Computers and technology were my brother's thing. I would probably fry his system if I tried to unlock his encryption and after a few years ago, I learned never to touch his computers. It was not long before Nyle was back home in the office running through the files.
"Do you know what time last night?" he asked and I did not even know, but if it was around the time I texted. "Check all last night from the moment Lacey contacted us about Meysa. We need to watch the entire night." He nodded and began doing his search.
"Hudson I found something." I heard Nyle and I ran to his side. "Just watch." He said and I did as he ordered. My eyes were glued to the screen. I saw a dark greyish tail lift from the water and it gave a shimmer from the moon hitting it. The seconds later Meysa appeared on the camera. She was on the shore with the waves crashing against her legs.
She was looking for the same thing we saw. Then a man emerged from the water, no tail, nothing. She looked terrified but he whispered in her ear, kissed her cheek and then Meysa took off towards the house. He looked directly at the camera and smiled before reemerging himself back into the water.
"What the heck is that?" Nyle said what we were both thinking. "I do not know but I have to call father." I stated grabbing my cellphone.
"Father, we have a serious problem." I then kept telling him what we witnessed on camera. There was a long silence. "Son I will speak to the others and then we will talk after the ball. There is more here than what you know."
He then just hung up leaving me more confused than when I first dialed his number. What was going on here and why did they seem so interested in Meysa?
I told Nyle about the phone call and there was nothing more we could do. He headed back to Lacey and I sat in bed. I felt something hard under my thigh. I dug into the covers and it was a flash drive. I put it into my laptop and Tales of two Hears popped up on the screen.
Meysa had started our book but should I say was halfway through it. Over a hundred pages in and I decided to read it.
She took all my ideas and worked them into the story with hers. I actually liked it. I decided to write a few chapters myself. I saw another file that had ideas and charts for the book. She was very detailed so I made sure to stick with her plan for the book.
I wrote a few in my male characters point of view to give his side to the romance and some back story.
Before I knew it I wrote an additional three chapters and it was getting late and I had not heard from Meysa yet. I knew she had a lot going on and did not want to bother her. I knew there was only two days until the ball and figured her Lacey needed some time together as well. So I sent her a text.
Hudson- I did not want to bother you. I know you have a lot going on right now but wanted to remind you the ball coming up. If you and Lacey are still interested in going there is a store downtown named Enchanted. Go dress shopping there, use your names and they will put it on our tab. No worries we invited you it is our pleasure. By the way my colors are blue and Nyle's are green. Good night Guppy!
I then texted Nyle letting him know what I had told Meysa to relay it to Lacey since they were still out. Nyle and I talked on the way back and decided that after the ball is when we would tell them the truth and reveal our true selves to them.
I was extremely nervous but she had a right to know everything before pursuing her any farther. I just hoped everything would work out.
