Mini fight

" Papa," I smiled as I walked over to my father who immediately let go of the bag that he was holding and put his arms wide open to embrace me into a hug.

I had missed him.
Surely, I had spoken to him many times over the phone but it wasn't like meeting him in real life.

And bhai too!

I hadn't met any of them in the past few weeks. Last I met them was at a family dinner that took place right after we came back from our honeymoon and all the time went in talking about all the things we did there and all the souvenirs we got for them.

But well, this time was different.

I wasn't there to talk about fancy things or even lovely scenery. This time, the conversation was going to be serious. And it was not just going to be between me, papa, and bhai. No. My entire new family was included as well. So, Ma, baba, Suha, Savita bua, Mangesh phuphaji, and their son Yogesh.

Yes. The whole family was there.

I had called ma on Monday, asking her if she had time on Saturday because I wanted to talk about something and she got excited and invited everyone. I think she was hoping that I would want to talk about my pregnancy but...

Yeah. There was a lot of time for that to happen.

I had tried to tell her not to do it! I tried to tell her that it wasn't pregnancy that we needed to discuss. But she just wasn't ready to listen to me!

So, there I was.

Stuck.

Sitting between my husband and his sister, aka my best friend. With everyone waiting for me to open my mouth and give them the "good news".

This was not going to end well.

" I thought you didn't want kids so soon," suha hit my leg with hers before whispering and that made me look at her with a frown
" I didn't,"
" Oh. So. It was an accident?"
" I'm not pregnant!" I tried to whisper-shout in frustration. But really, I just shouted. And everyone heard it. So now, I had 8 people staring right at me as I sat there awkwardly.

What the hell did I do?!

" You're not pregnant beta?" Ma asked me in a sweet yet shocked tone and I shook my head
" No. Ma. Why would you even think that? It's ridiculous. This is too soon. At least 2 years na, don't even think about it," Sohit looked up and told everyone very casually and I just stared at him in disbelief. How could he even be so casual in such a situation?
" Oh... Ok. Yeah. That's a good idea. Waise bhi. This is the time you guys have to understand each other. Kids will be too... Hectic right now. Plan your family well in advance," ma advised us and honestly, I planned to follow her advice very damn strictly.

" Wait a minute! If it's not to announce your pregnancy... Why have you called us all here?" and Savita bua just had to say that...

Savita bua wasn't able to attend our wedding because she was out of the country with her husband and son on vacation. They had paid for the whole trip in advance, 1 year ago so there was no way she was wasting her money by not going since the trip was non-refundable. And well, yes. She did give us a lot of backlash for not changing the dates of the wedding into one that she could attend but Sohit was pretty adamant. So, the dates didn't change. So, she didn't get to be at the wedding. So, she hated that we had a wedding.

In short, she hates me.

Not hates me. But she'd like someone else much better with Sohit because according to her, " It's only 32 guns matching between them. I can find someone who has all 36 guns matching with him!"

Basically, she was a pain in the ass.

At least for me, she definitely was.

" We're going to Delhi for a month... Or maybe more, next week,"

Silence. Utter silence.

No one said a word after my husband very conveniently said that statement in the most casual tone ever. As if he were used to telling people he was going somewhere just a day before he went there. Then again, maybe he was. He used to travel a lot for work earlier...

" Ok,"
" But why?"
" Pari?" everyone was mostly chill about it. Even papa and bhai weren't that bothered by it.

" WHAT!? NO WAY!" but Savita bua... was not happy about this. At all
" You just came back from Maldives and now you want to go to Delhi!? For what!? A second honeymoon?! What about your work!? What about the company, SOHIT?! My father did so much to build it and now you are here, wasting your time!!! It's better you hand over the company to Yogesh! He'll do a much better job at working on it!"
" MA! I don't want the company! I want to be a Botanist!"
" Shut up! That's not a good career! You will have to join work someday to earn for yourself and your family! And Sohit. You just took 2 whole weeks of holiday from work. YOU WANT MORE!? Where are your priorities now huh!?" Sohit was annoyed, to say the least

" I'm going there to work. And so is Pari. Her company got an offer from the European Advertising League. They want her working with them,"
" Wow! Pari! Congratulations!" Ma interrupted him and I smiled at her
" But why are you going to Delhi?" Suha asked
" They want her to work at Trexx's studio with Trexx and-" Sohit began
" Let me guess. Their studio is in Delhi?" bhai cut in and I nodded my head
" But what will you do there, Sohit?" his father asked him calmly
" There is a branch of the company in Delhi as well. And according to the reports, there are some internal issues there. I need to solve those. I've been delaying going there as it is. Now I got a chance so I'm going to clear all moles and kill all the rats there... And Yogesh. You don't need to join the company. Focus on your studies and become a good botanist. Besides, botanists earn a lot..."

God...

How was he so chill and casual about it all? I couldn't even open my mouth!

I just hope that he manages all other family matters this easily so that I don't ever have to open my mouth.
