Cassidy looked in the mirror and felt stupid. Why did she listen to Miranda again? She had so much makeup on that she looked like a contestant in Ru Paul's Drag Race. Miranda loved her makeup and she usually wore tons of it but Cassidy preferred a more sedated look. Cassidy didn't want to be ungrateful to her friend but it was 11:00 am on a Thursday and she was going into the bike shop, not a club.
She looked at her best friend who was in the process of reapplying more mascara on her lashes. "I don't know Miranda, I think I look like a clown, besides I don't want to look like I'm trying that hard."
"Kitt is the golden goose! He has been in town for two months and none of the girls have been able to coax him out of his cave. He's 28, so he needs a woman; you need to look at least 25 I think. A guy that hot is not gonna just go out with a plain Jane. No offense, of course, you know you are gorge but... you know what I mean."
"Mitchy ask me as a favor to ask him, like a friend thing. Besides, if the other guys see me like this I will never live it down. This is more of a club look I think. I like it, you did a bang-up job with it, but it's too much. Don't be mad okay but I'm gonna tone it down a bit, play it cool like I'm not interested. Maybe that's where the others have failed," she said, trying really hard to not hurt Miranda's feelings.
"I heard that he went to the bar once and hasn't been back since. I know because Patrice has been stalking him since then. He's a bit old for my taste but he is pretty hot, especially now that his hair is growing a bit. Do what you want though, I won't be offended. I'm coming over to see Finn. Now, that is the hottest man on the surface of this universe of ours," she said fanning herself with her hands.
"Finn is older than Kitt and has an old lady who is a scary bitch; so I would watch it if I were you."
"Whatever, I can make an exception. The degree of hotness subtracts at least 10 years I say and as far as the old lady thing...well, they aren't married and that bitch is ugly anyhow. They make no sense at all. Now Finn and me? That makes complete sense my friend."
"I'll bring roses to your funeral."
"You'll bring roses to my wedding you mean," Miranda said and winked at her friend.
They both laughed at Miranda's antics; she was crazy but Cassidy loved her dearly.
An hour later her face was clean. Even her freckles were on display, but she was going for the, I don't find you attractive enough to get all dolled up for, look. The jeans were old but tight, and they made her butt look awesome. Her T-shirt was also old and a tad too tight. Her favorite bra took care of making her rack look inviting, even in the old raggedy t-shirt. She was interested after all. Kitt was the silent, gorgeous type and she felt like she was not in his league. He probably saw her as a snotty kid, but Mitchy seemed to think they might be good enough to at least be friends and she loved and trusted Mitchy so she would give it a shot.
In any case, she had to pick up her baby and she couldn't wait to see what Kitt had done to it. The
Harley had been a hand-me-down from her dad and she had been so excited. They had tried to fix it up together and Kitt was giving it a paint custom job. She told her dad she wanted it purple and blue her two favorite colors, but besides that, she had no clue what it would look like. Her dad had said she was gonna love it. On her way out of the house, she saw her mom fighting on the phone while trying to pack her laptop and drink a coffee.
"Mom! I'm gonna go pick up the bike, can I take the truck?"
She waved her hand at her which meant sure in mom speech, and kept on berating most likely her assistant. Cassidy loved her mom but she was one espresso away from a heart attack. She had been working her ass off to make partner at her law office, so she saw her always in some kind of hurry. She had a bad feeling about the whole thing but she knew better than to tell her about it. So, she got in her grandpa's truck and drove to Ace's Bike Shop with Miranda. Finn was one of the mechanics at the shop so Cassidy had no idea how Miranda thought she could see him. The Flying Aces motorcycle club owned a few businesses around town including the bike shop and some of the members of the Flying Aces worked there in some capacity. One of these men was Rover, a prospect she was not looking forward to seeing at all. He was kind of her ex. They had never been serious per se but they had dated for a month and he was still trying to hook up, which she most definitively was not.
