Cassidy's phone ringing woke her up. It was Miranda.
"Hello," she said still half asleep.
"Where the hell are you? I have been waiting forever. You said you would pick me up and we would go over to the Clubhouse at 6:30 and it's 6:30 already."
"I don't feel good at all. Sorry, but you go on ahead Finn is waiting for you."
"What's wrong with you? "
"I... I got my period and it's pretty bad."
"What? It's not period time yet. I know cuz we always get it at the same time."
"It came early I guess," she lied.
"Man, that sucks. Why don't you just drink something? I'm sure your mom has some Vicodin somewhere. Wait, I have Midol, I can bring it to you."
"I got some here. You go ahead and have fun. Also... Could you do me a favor?"
"Yeah, of course!"
"Tell Kitt I'm sick, but not to worry. Tell him that I will call him later."
"Are you sure it's that bad?"
You have no idea how bad, she thought. "Yep, pretty bad. I think I'm just gonna cocooned in my bed with my heating pad."
"Now I feel guilty about leaving you behind...but Finn trumps guilt so I will enjoy it for the both of us."
"Patrice is going, so you'll have someone there still."
"Yeah I know, but Patrice isn't you. Now that said, I bet she will be happy to have Kitt all to herself."
"Yep," she said trying to keep it together. She didn't know what was wrong with her. It wasn't like he had forced himself on her, or hurt her. Maybe it was the fact that she had pretty much forced his hand in some way. She felt cheap and she hated it. The soreness between her legs wasn't helping either. It was a constant reminder of what a massive slut she had been. She sent her dad a message so he knew she wasn't going on the run because she had bad cramps. It was a sure way for her dad to not ask any more questions. Menstruation was not her dad's favorite topic of conversation. She went back to sleep and she woke up to someone knocking on the front door and ringing the doorbell. Se looked at her phone and saw it was 7:30 am. The coldness of fear traveled her entire body. Could it be...
"Cassidy!," Kitt's voice was calling from outside. "Open the door."
Why the hell was she scared? So what if he thought she was a slut. She got up and grimaced when she looked at herself in the mirror. Her eyes were still puffy from all the crying and her hair was crazy. She wiped her eyes and put her hair up on a bun. On her way to the door she grabbed one of her big sunglasses. She opened the door to Kitt dressed with his riding jacket and pants, riding boots and his helmet in hand.
"What the fuck's going on Cassidy? Do you mind explaining this shit to me? You pretty much pester me to go on this run with you and now you bail on me? Is this because of last night? Because I'm pretty sure you wanted it as much as me."
Cassidy cringed inside. It sounded so bad when he said it like that. "I'm sorry Kitt. I just...I don't feel well it's all."
"Bullshit! Look me in the eyes and tell me that shit," he said taking her glasses off. She tried to hold on to the glasses but he had been too quick. When Kitt saw her puffy eyes he took a step back. He had been a little pissed when she opened the door but now his face had changed.
"Were you crying? Because of last night? Please tell me I didn't hurt you. Is that why you don't...shit," he said and gave her her glasses back.
"I'm sorry, there's no excuse. I know better," he said looking broken.
If regular Kitt was irresistible, sad Kitt was heartbreaking. Cassidy touched his arm and walked into him. He immediately hugged her to him.
"You didn't hurt me Kitt. I'm just feeling weird. Like I somehow forced you. I'm not like that I swear. And I was careless and stupid. We didn't use any protection Kitt. I'm not on the pill."
Kitt moved back to look at her. "Can we talk about this inside?"
She nodded and lead the way into the living room. She sat in the corner of the couch and pulled a big cushion on her lap. Kitt kept his distance even though he didn't want to. "You didn't force me Cass, I wanted you already. I was just trying to be respectful and stay alive. I'm pretty sure that your dad will not like this between us. And I'm gonna be clear with you. Last night wasn't a one-night thing for me. I wouldn't risk my life for one night. I want you to be my girl. I know we are kind of doing shit backward but I do want to know you and take you on a proper date. As I see it, this weekend is the perfect time to do just that."
"Why is that? Are you really scared of my dad?" she said focusing on that because what he had just said made her stomach tie in knots.
"He is my boss and I do need my job. That said, I am willing to risk it if it means I could be with you. "
"You don't even know me. How can you say that?"
"I know what my dad told me about you. I know what I've seen since coming here. And I know how you make me feel. That's enough for me to take a chance. Also, just so you can be a bit less panicky, I'm clean. I haven't been with anyone for six months and I had some blood work done for the job."
Six months? For such a hot guy that was super odd. "I don't either. I mean I haven't gotten tested but my last boyfriend was a year ago and I'm fine as far as I know. I always used protection before. I was so stupid with you. I don't know what got into me it was like seeing you standing there all wet and perfect...madness, that's what it was, just madness."
"Folie a deux," he said with a smile.
"What?"
"A madness shared by two, baby. I completely get it because it was the same for me. Here I thought I had been so careful to keep my distance from you, but just seeing you there in my bed so fucking sexy. I couldn't hold back anymore. A Harley motor had nothing on my heart last night."
"So, are you not going on the run?"
"I was only going for you Cass. We could catch up if you want, but I rather spend this weekend romancing you."
Cass felt flushed all over. She was sure he could see her blush, plus she had a goofy smile on her
face that was pretty much giving her away.
"Oh yeah, that sounds interesting. What do you have in mind?"
"I think we can go for a walk in the park and maybe go have lunch somewhere after. Tonight we can go watch one of those girly movies you like. Guess I owe you one of those. We can drive to the beach and watch the stars if you are up to it."
Cassidy smiled. "A lot of time for me to interrogate you. Are you sure that's what you want?" Her tears all but forgotten, Cassidy was feeling playful.
"I get to return the favor so I'm game if you are."
"No sex though. I...I'm kind of sore. You are kind of more than I'm used to if you know what I mean. This is embarrassing but...you know."
"Don't ever be embarrassed with me. I was kind of rough with you because it had been so long and I wanted you so badly. We probably should have stopped after the first time too, I'm sorry. You feel so fucking good Cass, it's hard to keep it chill. But You have my word that I will keep my paws to myself unless you asked me not to. I really want to fucking kiss you right now though so maybe I should go."
Cassidy smiled up at him and put her hands on his shoulders. "I wouldn't be opposed to a kiss," she said going on her tiptoes to place her lips on his.
The kiss was slow and romantic. He kept caressing her neck with his thumb and Cass could feel all the little hairs on her body stand up. She felt his smile before he stopped the kiss and hugged her.
"How about I pick you up in an hour? I wanna go home and change into less leather."
"You look good in leather," she said putting her sunglasses back on.
"Well thank you, Ma'am," he said with a twang that made her laugh.
They said goodbye and Cassidy was no longer sad and sore, she was giddy and sore.
