Mitch knew many things to be true. Kitt was a hard-working man, considerate, and kind. If he asked him for anything he knew that his boy would do it, if it was at all possible. He also knew that Kitt was much happier now that Cassidy was in his life, but his boy had suffered a great deal of trauma and pain, and he was almost positive that he had not opened up to Cassidy about that. There could be many reasons why and some of them were pretty valid. Cassidy was only 20 years old and she had lived a happy, safe life. His boy wouldn't even talk to him about the stuff he went through because, in his words, they were too horrific to share. He had a therapist back in Omaha where his mama lived, but one of the reasons why Fiona had reached out to him was to tell him that Kitt had come back from the war wrong and he refused to take his pills or see the therapist. Apparently, after a week he had not gone back. Fiona thought that perhaps being with him would help. The first night that Cassidy had slept over he had thought that perhaps she was the cure he needed because Kitt didn't have night terrors on the nights she stayed over. But the fact Kitt was always so knackered on Mondays told him he was not sleeping at all on the weekends. One positive about Cassidy being in his life was that he'd seen some new pill bottles from the local VA
clinic on the counter one day, which meant he had gone back on his medication. The names were weird but he googled them and they were for PTSD, anxiety, and depression. He thought that perhaps inviting him to join the Flying Aces MC would be good for him. Kitt had learned how to ride at 12, it kind of went with the territory when your dad rode a bike everywhere. Kitt had declined the invitation in the nicest way possible. "Perhaps in a couple of years dad. I like my solitude and I have Cass." Mitch nodded and assured him he would always be welcome with the Aces.

Kitt was so excited about his next job he could dance and he didn't dance, except when Cassidy made him. Lorenna Baccarin was a fucking Hollywood legend, at least in his book. In high school, he had a huge poster of hers in his room. His Marines unit even had one of her pin-up pictures inside their barracks in Afghanistan. She had contacted the shop to get her classic Electra-Glide Harley customized by him specifically! She asked for him by fucking name! A few months ago Custom Rider magazine had come to the shop to do a story on the shop and they had taken a bunch of pictures and even interview Deny and him about the customs they made. They included some sick pictures of his work and it obviously had gotten to Ms. Baccarin. Even though he was super excited he didn't want to tell Cassidy about it because she might get jealous and that wasn't good. He knew how excited he was, and she wouldn't get it. The Devils & Angels movies were all the rage if you were a boy growing up in the early 2000s. It was a group of badass biker gangs doing extreme shit and lots of explosions. Kind of a Fast and the Furious for motorcycles. Baccarin played the sexy ass detective that falls for the biker gang leader. The scenes were hot and you bet your bottom dollar he bought that DVD as soon as he was able. He was a 15-year-old watching an R-rated movie in a room full of boys as young as 11. The movie had 2 sequels and he found a way to sneak into the theater to watch them. His group of friends would buy tickets to some PG-13 movie and then snuck into the Devils & Angels movie. It was such a happy period in Kitt's life that he cherished the memories to this day. So you could imagine how pumped he was, especially when he was told Ms. Baccarin was coming to deliver the bike herself because she wanted to meet him. Kitt was gonna have to go shopping for some cool new clothes, he was not gonna meet his fantasy woman in rags. Cassidy was pretty busy with college stuff so it would be easy enough to go to the mall for a few without her. If she saw him buying clothes she would get mad she wasn't there. She had been hounding him to go to the mall to get him some new clothes for a while. He debated for a few minutes about telling her but he quickly decided that would be a dumb idea. If he told her about Lorenna Baccarin she would be jealous, anyone would. The woman might be in her forties now, but she was still in tip-top shape and sexy as hell.
2 weeks later...
Cassidy was screaming so loud that everyone in the shop was looking at them. Not only that but
she had thrown all of Kitt's tools, including the paints all over the shop's floor. When her Biology class had been canceled for the day she had been elated because that meant she could go surprise Kitt with his favorite burger for lunch. When she had gone to the shop Deny told her he had gone out for lunch. Kitt never went out for lunch. He usually brought stuff from home. When she asked the guys where he had gone, all of them started acting hella weird. She knew these guys so well that when they all were awkwardly telling her they didn't know, she knew something was off. She gave them the evil eye and left. She was getting a bad feeling in her gut and she hated that with a passion. She then drove to Mitch's house and saw that Kitt's bike was there but not his truck. She knocked on the door to make sure but there was no answer. She then drove around town to see if she could find his truck. By that time she was nauseous and her mind kept feeding her all these scenarios, none of them good. She called Miranda who tried to calm her down, telling her that maybe he had gone out to buy her a gift or even an engagement ring! That had worked like a charm because now she was sure Kitt was going to propose to her. She went from mad to elated in less than zero seconds. She drove back to the shop to wait for him. What she saw when she drove in made her turn red with rage. Kitt was leaning down next to a red Lamborghini, kissing some redheaded hussy that had her arms around his neck. She almost crashed her truck pulling into the parking lot. She was furiously crying and trying to wipe her eyes but she was too angry to get in control. By the time she got out, the woman had driven off and Kitt was walking back into the shop. She started screaming as soon as she got off. When Kitt stopped and looked at her his face was so shocked and incriminating she got even angrier. She knew her mouth was throwing out all kinds of insults and she was completely hysterical. She had some semblance of trashing his working area and maybe even kicking the broke he had been working on to the floor. She felt the strong arms around her middle pick her up and someone else grabbing her feet. She was kicking and fighting whomever it was but they managed to drag her away from Kitt. She was put in a room and her dad was called. By the time he opened the door of the office, she was sobbing on the floor, looking at the blood on her fingers, or was it paint? She was full of paint splashes everywhere but she was still coming down from the rage fog she had been on. Did she attack Kitt? When her dad opened the door she ran to him and of course, he sat on the little couch that was in his office and pulled her onto his lap.
"Shh baby, I'm here. Take some deep breaths for me okay? I know shit went down but I don't want you thinking about that now. His dad sat with her until one of the guys put his head in and told her dad her ride was there. Jerrod took his daughter in his arms and carried her to Miranda's car.
"Take her home and don't leave her alone. I'm calling her mama." Then he walked over to where Mitch was talking to his son and pushed Mitch aside to punch Kitt right in the middle of his face.
