There his body lay, muscles settled deep into the cushions of the couch. One arm rested across his middle while the other propped his head up against the arm rest. Green eyes remained transfixed to one spot on the ceiling but his eyelids drooped part way. A half grin rested on his expression.
Tranquil. It was like being pumped up on the best morphine. Nothing hurt anymore, his head was finally quiet.
'Better now?' Tricias voice hummed from across the room, she was slumped into the armchair currently enjoying her own high.
'Mhm...' He slowly nodded, a grin widening on his face. The pair burst into a fit of giggles.
He spent the first five minutes, after discovering what had been pressed into his hand, berating his sister for what she had did and how stupid an idea this was. That he was supposed to be an example to the community and that he couldn't fall on bad habits again.
Temptation was too much. Since getting clean for his new line of work and cutting all ties with the McCormicks - he didn't want to admit it, but he missed the buzz. When life used to get tough, it wasn't uncommon for Craig to sneak off to Kenny's place - usually with Tricia in tow - and lose themselves in chemical highs.
'Like old times, huh?' Tricia hummed, lifting her hands and watching her fingers dance. 'Kenny says he misses you...'
'He misses my money...' Craig finally broke his gaze, his head lulling to watch his sister.
'Noooo... He misses you!' She sang before finding fits of giggles once more. Craigs arm lifted itself limply off his stomach and propped his elbow on the cushion. He flipped his sister off before joining in with her laughter.
'This is soooo stupid...' Craig continued to chuckle, eyes returning to the one spot above him. 'But when you are tempted... God will provide a way out so that you can endure it...' He recited, so much for the way out.
'I am God then.' Tricia retorted. Again, both finding fits of laughter. 'Do you really believe in that crap though?' She asked, wiping away a hysterical tear.
'Maybe...' He breathed, calming down again. After the week or so he had, he wasn't entirely certain.
'God and Satan... Angels and Devils... Singing songs to make it go away... It's real stupid, Craig.' Tricia eventually leaned forwards, grabbing a slice of the now cold pizza and beginning to nibble on it.
'Oh devils are real.' Shut up, Craig. She'll definitely think you are crazy. 'I mean... I was nearly killed by a bunch of cultists last week, right?' He hoped he saved it.
'Cultists. Not devils.' She corrected him. 'What happened to that guy? The blond one..? Tweed?'
'Tweek?' His attention was brought back to his sibling.
'Yeah! That's it! He never even said goodbye...' Tricia huffed before wolfing down the last scraps of her pizza slice.
'I... Umm... Think he managed to get a ride back home.' He is trapped. Shut up. He's in pain. Shut up! He needs you. Craig's hand went to his forehead, the heel pressing into his forehead while his eyes screwed shut.
'Shame... I liked him.' Her head scoped her brother. 'You okay?'
'You keep saying... and yeah, just a pain...' he managed to pry his hand away from his face. 'I think... I think I'm gonna try and get some sleep... I feel drowsy.' He admired, trying to force himself into a sitting position. 'Spare room is available if you want it?' Actually having someone about helped put him at ease.
She flashed another questionable look but reality was a little blurry for her. 'Yeah, Kenny did say they were strong... That's a shout... Thanks, I'll do that. C'mon...' She managed to get to her feet without too much trouble. She toddled towards her brother, grabbing his arms and pulling him up too.
