"UGH. THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING!", cries Allison as she gets up from my bed and paces back and forth around my room. "Dude. Allison you need to make a freaking choice. We've been over the list a million times", I say complaining, seeing that my clock reads nine o'clock PM. "I can't! Its just too hard", she says falling dramatically onto my bed.
"Okay", I say trying to solve her D.O dilemma. "We've narrowed it down to eight guys out of the fifteen, and from what I can tell, they're all douches besides Damion, so I think the choice is pretty obvious here, Allison", I say rolling my eyes in amusement. This wouldn't be the first boy dilemma of hers. It's practically just another regular day in Allison Land. "Okay just refrain from going up to each of their houses and swinging at them with a baseball bat", she says sitting up. "Okay. But this is the last time. Homecoming is in 3 weeks and we haven't even found your dress yet", I say scanning through the list. Allison laughs. "My dress? Don't you mean our dresses?", she asks.
"Actually I think I'll sit this one out. Dances aren't really my thing", I say, crossing out the names Nick, Jack, Paul, and Fransisco off of the list. Allison quickly snatches the list from my hands and tosses it beside her. "No no no no no no no no. You're going to the dance. You promised!", she says, sounding like a little girl throwing a tantrum. "Allison. You've seen me at the middle school dances. I just sit there watching everyone dance." I say picking up the list again, but she grabs it again and tosses it to the side. "But this is our first high school dance, Giselle. It's different!", she says taking me by the arm and dragging me out of my room and outside the front door, finally releasing me once we reach the nearest bus stop just as the bus approaches.
"Get in the bus", she says, pushing me inside. "What? Why?", I ask but she waits until the bus driver closes the door to answer me. "We're going to the mall. To buy you a dress. If I buy you a beautiful dress with my money, then you'll feel bad and have to go", she says, smirking. "Dude. It's 9. The mall closes in an hour. "Oh don't worry. I already have our dresses on hold", she says looking out the window. "You're evil. You know that?", I say, laughing. "Hey. I'm just doing you a favor. You'll thank me later", she says just as my phone starts vibrating. I look at the screen to find that its my mom calling.
Oh shoot. We just left the house 9 o'clock at night without telling my mom where we were going. I am a total gonner.
I face the screen towards Allison. "I'll forgive you if you take this call for me", I say, fear in my tone. "Don't worry. I got this. Your mom LOVES me", she says with such calmness in her tone making it seem as if she's never met my mother before.

"Allison. This dress is beautiful! Thank you", I say refusing to take my eyes off of the dress as we exit the mall. "I told you you'd thank me", she says nudging me. "So you're definitely going to the dance now, right", she asks. "Congratulations. Your bribe was successful. Besides, now that I think about it, I wouldn't want to miss a freshman finally winning homecoming queen for the first time ever" I say, locking my arm with hers. "Shhhhh. You're going to jinx it!", she cries.
"Okay, your majesty. whatever you say."
We skip joyfully to the bus stop as I prepare myself for coming home to an angry mother.
