Friday Night

It's Friday night and it's been a whole week since mine and Allison's fight. Well, I wouldn't consider it a fight considering I was the only one who got hurt. Usually she would sleep over on Friday nights. We'd talk about boys, which was obviously only her talking, and she would beg me to allow her to put makeup on me.

But the thing is, I haven't even been all that miserable. I've had Lily to talk to in art and during break from time to time. Of course those little moments of small talk didn't last very long because Mark was always by her side, impatiently waiting to steal her from me to get some alone time with her, as if they don't spend enough time together as it is.

For a freshman couple, they're a pretty mature one. Sure they're really cheesy, like most immature couples, but they have their moments. When they say 'I love you', they mean it, when they hug it lasts for more than just a few seconds, and yet they act like best friends. They're the love story every girl wants to have. They're the love story that I want to have.

I go on my phone and check for any new notifications, even though I just checked it 5 minutes ago. Of course there's nothing. I put my phone on my night stand and grab a pen from my backpack. 'Bored'. I consider myself independent. I'd do fine without any friends, but at times it's good to have company, someone to talk to.

I walk over to my closet. Maybe I can kill time by organizing my clothes by color. I open it and of course, it's already organized in that way. No surprise there. I've been home for three hours. Its six pm and my parents are out on a 'parents' day with their friends, which probably just includes bragging about their kids over some shots and karaoke. My two brothers went out for their weekly 'brothers day', and that leaves me home alone, and am currently freaking out because I heard something in the hallway. I swear.

I slump down back on my bed and pick up my phone. I scroll through Instagram and the first picture I see is of Allison and Tom at the amusement park, captioned 'date night'. I raise my eyebrows in surprise. Tom's had many girlfriends, but he's never taken any of them on an actual dates that I know of.

I quickly type a text message to Allison, begging her for all the details of their date, but I stop myself before sending it, remembering the fact that we haven't talked in a week.

It's driving me crazy not being able to talk to her, not being able to tell her what's been going on this past week- how I actually have a friend-date to the dance, how I've gotten over my emotional wreck problem, how I'm so glad that Jaden's been keeping me company. I should probably just apologize for judging Tom, even though what I said was true.

But I need a second opinion. I scroll through my contact list and call Lily, but I press the end call icon before she picks up. I completely forgot about her date with Mason, and how could I forget. She's been ranting about how excited she was since Wednesday.

I call Derek next. End call icon. He's on a date with his girlfriend.
My friend Rebecca. End call icon. She's on a date with a guy I set her up with, which I am proud of because. Helloo. Match maker over created a new adorable couple. Cudo's to myself. I give my self a little mental pat on the back for that one and continue scrolling through my contact list.

My ringtone goes off and Jaden's name appears at the top of my screen. Saved by the bell. I quickly pick up the phone, sitting crisscross on my bed.

"Hello?"
"Hey Giselle"
"What's up sugar muffin", I ask laughing.
I hear laughing through the phone. "How much longer are you gonna hold that against me", he asks. I could hear the smile in his tone.
"Quite a while. Get used to it", I say, smiling and picking at a loose thread on my comforter.

"I'll try", he says.
I start to respond, but am interrupted by the doorbell.
"Oh. Hold on a sec. Someone's at the door", I say walking over to the front door, keeping the phone press against my ear.
"Hello. Jaden are you still there", I ask opening the door.
"Yeah. I'm hear he says", standing right there in the doorway, smiling.
"I'll call you back", I say, laughing, hanging up.
