"Giselle! Giselle! Wake up!" I wake up to Allison sitting at the foot of my bed holding her D.O list. She looks all giddy, like a kid who just received a lollipop. "What could you possibly want at freaking 3 o'clock in the morning", I say, rubbing my eyes and looking at the time on my phone. I sit up and before I could question Allison any further, she's already sitting beside me, giving the list to me. As I skim through the list, I notice that all of the names are crossed out except for one.
No. No. NO.NO. Not him. Why him. Anyone but him. ANYONE.
I can no longer keep the thoughts inside of my head. "Tom?!", I ask, practically shouting. I realize that it's only 3 AM so I repeat it in a whisper/shouting tone. "Tom? Why Tom?", I ask, pinching myself to make sure that this isn't some terrible nightmare. Allison's eyes start to sparkle as she says "I don't know why it took me so long to choose him! He's so", she says, finishing her sentence with a long sigh.
"No he's not *sigh*", I say trying to mimic her sigh, so quick to interject her whole fantasy. "Allison. This is Tom we're talking about. The guy who goes after every girl in the school", I say resisting the urge to slap her back into reality. "Which is exactly why I chose him, Giselle. He can get any girl in the school, EVEN THE SENIORS, and he chooses me! He makes me feel special", she says, repeating her dramatic fall onto my bed. "No. Please, Allison. You're going to get hurt. Do I need to remind you of how many broken hearts he's responsible for??"
"But I can change him, Giselle. I can get him to actually fall for me. I know I can. Just trust me with this one", she says, basically begging me. I hesitate before finally surrendering. "FINE", I say lifting my hands in surrender. "But if he breaks your heart-", I start to say, but she doesn't let me finish. "I know. I know. We've been over this so many times, Giselle. Literally. You said that every time a guy was added to the list", she says, crumpling up the list and throwing it in the trash. I'm definitely not going to be able to go back to sleep now that I know that Allison's heart and feelings are at risk.
