Jasper and Vanessa hung out almost everyday. Bella notices the change in Vanessa and could see her finally opening up with someone. She'd see her laugh with Jasper or talk to him, Bella was thrilled to say the least and doesn't wanna ask questions considering its her sister's life after all.
Everyone in school seemed to watch on how close they are and wondered if they're dating. Vanessa and Jasper would always be walking together down the hall, sit together at the cafeteria or walk together at the parking lot and occasionally see Vanessa get out of Jasper's car. Whispers would go around, some not so nice, but Jasper would glare at them or clench his fist. One day, Jasper and Vanessa hung out in their favorite place sitting in silence between the shelves when Jasper spoke.
"Would it be alright if...you were to meet my family?" He ask as he looks at her which made her look back at him.
"Why?"
"They have been begging desperately for them to meet you mostly Alice considering she always wanted to talk to you."
"I don't know, I don't really know how they would react really."
"I did say they were desperate. Don't think about it too much. Take your time and if you're ready we'll make plans." Jasper gave her a warm smile which made her smile back as they continue reading. Jasper can feel how nervous she is and felt guilty about bringing it up. He knew she doesn't like pressure and it hurt him that he cost it.
"Do they know that-"
"Yes, Alice told us before you arrived that there will be two people coming to Forks and one of them is my mate."
"Oh, so your family has some sort of power."
"You could say that yes. Vampires have a power they can use and some don't."
"What's yours?"
"I...can feel people's emotions and share different type of emotions."
"An empath? Wow that must of suck especially being around with a lot of hormonal teenagers."
"Yeah, but I ignored them as much as I could and taught myself to latch onto Alice's emotion instead. It's also called Pathokinesis."
"What about the other's and I am guessing Alice is like a seer."
"Yes, a precognition. Edward is a telepathic." Vanessa looked at him shocked and intrigued. Jasper watches as she process everything in her head which made him smile.
"They are more like gifts than powers."
"Did you guys get these gifts when you were human?"
"I believe so. It's really foggy to me but from Alice, she said that she's been seeing things ever since she was human." Vanessa nodded her head.
"Are there any vampires like you? Like you know drinks animal blood?"
"No, at least not that we know of. Most of the vampires we know drink human blood. You'll be seeing them with red eyes. Ours are yellow." Jasper says as his eyes changes color. Vanessa stares at them in awe before looking away blushing realizing how long she was staring.
"Sorry, I didn't know what came over me."
"No worries, I don't mind." Jasper smiles as he reaches over and gently moves her head back his way. They stared at one another as Jasper slowly leans over to kiss her before pulling away immediately.
"What's wrong? Are you okay?"
"Yeah, it's just your blood. I still haven't fully controlled it." He mutters as he looks at his fingers in shame.
"Hey, it's okay. I get that it's s struggle. We'll get through this. Together." She smiles taking his hand into hers as he looks at her smiling back.
Jasper drops Vanessa back home as she says her goodbye and gets out the car. She walks towards the front door. She went to open the door only to be pulled open revealing Charlie.
"Hi dad." Vanessa greeted as Charlie smiles at her with relief and lets her in. He waved towards Jasper's car who did the same before driving off. Charlie closes the door as he turns to face her.
"You and Jasper?"
"We're friends. His the very first friend I had after." She stops midway as Charlie nodded understandingly.
"I know, just making sure everything is okay. I know it's tough opening up to people. I'm very proud of you." He smiles causing for her to smile back and hug him. He did the same holding her tightly knowing she's slowly coming back.
"Go get some rest." Charlie says as they let go and she headed up the stairs. Vanessa changes her clothes and went to do her studies when a knock on her door interrupted her.
"Come in."
"Hey." Bella walks in and shuts the door behind her.
"What's up?"
"I should be asking you that question. Nothing much. What about you and Jasper?"
"What about it?"
"Nothing just awfully close. Which is good." Bella smiles happily.
"Thanks what about you and Edward?"
"You know him?"
"I know him by his name and Jasper told me a bit of his family. Since you two are looking at each other, I was wondering what's happening with your chemistry together. Anything going on there or just stare off into the distance?"
"There was progress after he disappeared for a couple of days. He started talking to me."
"About?"
"Science and us moving here. That stuff."
"Oh, sounds boring." Vanessa jokes as Bella throws her a pillow making her laugh.
"Anyways, I won't be home tomorrow night."
"Why?"
"Jessica, Angela, and I are going out to get homecoming dresses."
"You're going to homecoming?"
"No, I was just invited so I agreed to it."
"Did you tell Charlie."
"Yes....No. was hoping you'd tell him."
"Isabella."
"Fine, I'll tell him. I hate when you say my full name." She mutters and leaves as Vanessa shook her head.
A knock on the window interrupted her as she gets up looks to see Jasper. She sighs and opens the window as he gets in.
"I have to study for the test you know."
"I know and I came to help." He smiles as she shook her head.
"Which one are you studying for?"
"Psychology."
"Ahh, Mr. Molders class." Jasper says as he sits on her bed grabbing a unsolved rubix cube near by. He immediately solved it and places it back to where he grabbed it from and looks at her. Seeing her focus on a piece of paper as she bites the end of her pen. Vanessa looks back at him seeing him still staring at her.
"Did you come to help me or stare at me?"
"Well, I probably would get distracted if I helped you."
"Uh huh, you aren't that smooth pal." She says as he chuckles.
"If you are still wondering if I'm going to meet your family, take me out on two days and I'll consider the offer."
"Deal." He grins and went towards the window.
"See you on our first date." He winks and leaves before she could say a word.
"You didn't even help me." She grumbles.
