Vanessa held onto him and gasp when she felt win flying swiftly and how fast it was going. They soon stopped for a moment as Vanessa pulls away from him.
"What?" She turns to look at him with shock and speechless.
"Vanessa."
"How did you do that?" She ask looking at him with shock.
"Well, I'm a..." Jasper stops his sentence before sighing.
"I am..."
"Don't." Vanessa stops him which he did immediately and his mind began racing wondering if he fully scared his mate. Scared her to stay away from him.
"Vanessa."
"I said don't Jasper. Let me ask you something."
"Anything I'll answer."
"Is it dangerous for me to know?" She ask and Jasper stayed silent before nodding.
"In a way yes, it is. As long as you are with us no harm will be set on you and your family." He tells her and she nodded.
"And you are a vampire? Fangs and all?"
"Yes."
"Do you drink human blood?"
"Used too but we drink animal blood."
"Basically vegan vampires." She says making Jasper chuckle and nodded. Vanessa smiles and looks away which Jasper notices as he admires her.
"Does anyone know about you being vampires?"
"No, they don't. We made sure they aren't."
"Only you and your family I'm guessing."
"Yes." He nodded and Vanessa nodded her head.
"So you can listen to any conversation around the school?"
"I try not too, but it gets a little hard when some are interesting to know." He tells her with a smile and she nodded.
"So, why did you take me out here? You aren't planning on killing me right?" She ask him and he immediately shook his head.
"Of course not darlin,I would never hurt you." He says walking up to her but could see her tense up and her heart racing making him back away again.
"Sorry." She mutters and he smiles.
"No worries darlin, I get that you are scared for no one would think vampires really do walk among the living."
"Are...werewolves real?"
"Shapeshifters."
"Shapeshifters? Like people that can turn to other people and animals?"
"No, just animals, a wolf."
"So werewolves?" She questions and Jasper shrugs.
"I do not know dear, but they too are here it's just we have a territory separated between us." He tells her and she nodded her head understandingly.
"Okay, that is confusing I'll be honest. Why tell me though?"
"It's because you are my mate."
"You're mate?"
"Yes." He smiles happily and Vanessa didn't know what to say.
"I know this would be weird and all but what happens if...I don't want to be your mate?" She asked and Jasper stayed silent speechless.
"I do not know." He mutters in silence thinking of the worse, but her soft laughter erased those thoughts away.
"I was just asking silly, but you might have to give me sometime to think about it."
"That is quite alright darlin, take all the time you need." He smiles and she nods.
"Well for one, we just met a couple of days. We can stay as friends for now and when you know the time is right, you can...ask me out?" She tilts her head slightly which Jasper finds adorable.
"Of course."
"Nice, um is it okay if we can go somewhere other than a forest. I know you brought me here for a private conversation but this isn't really a best place to actually hang out."
"Oh, right, my apologies. Do you wanna go somewhere?" Jasper ask curiously as Vanessa thinks.
"If we can go to a book shop. That would be wonderful."
"Of course. Shall we?" He held his hand out which she took.
"Hold on tight darlin' and if you want you can close your eyes." He tells her and she nodded feeling flustered as she wraps her arms around him and he immediately carries her in his arms. She closes her eyes and felt a gust of wind as she held on tightly. Her heart was racing and before she knew it, the movement stopped, she opens her eyes to find her and Jasper in an alley.
"We are near the town and I had to stop just in case someone sees." Jasper tells her cautiously looking around as he sets her down to the ground.
"Okay." She nods understandingly and Jasper led her out the alley still holding her hand. She follows him as Jasper walked towards a book shop across the street. They walked inside as the smell of caramel, maple wood along with books both old and nee filled their noses, but mostly Jasper's as it calms them.
"Why hello." An old lady in her late 60s walks out from a curtain behind the counter greeting the two. Her hazel eyes are filled with life as if just one look could make your day better.
"Hello, madam."
"You two are such beautiful couple. Why don't you two pick your books and relax while I make you tea to keep you both warm from this weather?"
"That would be lovely thank you." Jasper smiles as Vanessa looks at him for a bit but didn't say anything. They walked towards the shelves as the lady disappeared behind the red velvet curtains.
Vanessa looks around the shelves and noticed a leathery cover wedged between two large books. She picked it up and opens it reading about mythological creatures. She opens it seeing the wonderful drawings and descriptions about them.
"What did you find there?" Jasper asks her as Vanessa jumps and turns to him.
"Don't do that please." She sighs making him chuckle.
"My apologies."
"It's just a book of mythological creatures."
"Interesting aren't they."
"Yeah, especially how people would describe them and makes you wonder if they were real for them to even see it." Vanessa says as she began showing more of herself.
"Have you found a book yet?"
"Yes, it's uh...just about cowboys. Nothing interesting." He coughs a little as he hides the book behind him.
"Hey, I don't judge anything as long as you don't mine."
"I would never." He shook his head before they headed to an empty seat. Not that the shop is packed of people, there are mostly two of them in it including the old lady.
"Here you two are." The lady says walking towards them with her tea and setting it down on the table.
"Oh, you found my very great grandfather's journal." She looks at Vanessa seeing the book."
"Oh, I'm sorry."
"No worries dearie. It is an old book that I thought I lost but I guess it has been hidden between the books when I put them up. I never really pay attention where I put things when I opened this shop. Anyways, I'll leave you love bird alone. If you need anything call me grandma Margery." She tells them with a smile and they nodded as she turns and leaves the two be.
Vanessa went back to reading as Jasper did the same, looking up at her every once in a while. Seeing her move a piece of her hair back behind her ear, her eyes scanning every word on the book and her hand occasionally grabbing the cup to drink. She is perfect. Jasper thought smiling before looking back down again.
