After lunch, Vanessa avoided the Cullens as much as she could, being with her sister, listening to music to drown everything out at least as much as she could. Bella noticed the change in her mood as they headed towards the doors. She didn't wanna ask her knowing that her sister will tell her everything later if she needed to.
She grabs her hand as Vanessa turns her head a bit towards her before squeezing Bella's hand. They walk through the parking lot towards Bella's truck as Vanessa looked up and her eyes met with Jasper was looking at her with a sadden and begging look, but she looked away from him immediately. Jasper looks down at his feet and his siblings notices the two of them.
"Hey." Bella stops to the driver side of her car and looks at her sister.
Vanessa takes off her earbuds and looked at her finially hearing the outside world again for just a moment.
"Whatever is happening between you and Jasper, don't let it ruin everything. I've seen how you start opening up now and I don't want you shutting everything down again." She stares into Vanessa's eyes as Vanessa sigh.
"It's complicated and I don't wanna talk about it. Especially not here. I just need to be alone." She mutters and was ready to go into the truck when they both heard a commotion and car screeching causing for them to look.
A car was swerving through the ice uncontrollably and heading straight towards Bella. Vanessa ran towards her sister pushing her out of the away just in time, but not enough to save herself as the car was ready to hit her making her duck and cover herself with her arms waiting for an impact. When she felt nothing, she slowly looks up and towards the car to see a large dent on the side and a pale familiar hands. She slowly turns her head to the side seeing Jasper between the two cars with her.
"Are you okay?" He asked her worriedly, but before she could open her mouth, her heart was pounding too fast, her ears ringing as her visions blurred before everything went black for her.
She hears distant beeps along with voices, one soothing, the other in a panic, and a female voice calming the person down. She slowly opens her eyes and slowly sat up.
"Oh god, you're okay." Charlie held her hand seeing her waking up.
"Bella, get Carlisle please." He tells Bella who nodded and walks out the room immediately.
"What happened?" Vanessa ask as she sat up and Charlie helps her.
"A car swerved and you almost got hit if it wasn't for your friend, Jasper to get you out of it in time. I thought I lost you." He held her and she hugs him back.
"It'll take more than a car for you to loose me." She giggles making him chuckle and shake his head before they pulled away.
"Charlie, Ms. Swan."
"Vanessa is fine." She whispers softly which was hard to hear for any humans except Carlisle.
"Alright then, How are you feeling Vanessa."
"Fine." She tells him and Charlie sighs.
"Sorry Carlisle."
"Quite alright, I understand. My children told me about her."
"Children?" Vanessa questions him, he looked too young to have children.
"His Carlisle Cullen, Jasper's father."
"Oh." She realizes and relaxes a bit which Carlisle notices and smiles.
"Let me check your eyes real quick." He tells her and takes out his flashlight and shined it towards her eyes before turning them off.
"Quite normal. Nothing seemed to be broken as well." Carlisle inspects her before smiling towards Charlie.
"She can be discharged."
"Okay, come on Girls." He tells the two as they left the room with Carlisle in tow.
"I'll have you sign some paperwork at the front, I'll see you guys later. A pleasure to see you, Bella and Vanessa." The two girls nodded as Carlisle walks off and Charlie pats their shoulder before leaving to sign the papers.
"What happened to the guy by the way?" Vanessa asked Bella silently.
"He was in a horrible than you. Which confused me...Jasper wasn't nowhere near us so...how-" Bella cuts herself off when she sees Carlisle talking to Rose and Edward.
"I'll be right back." She walks towards them leaving Vanessa alone. Vanessa sighs and sat down waiting for her sister and Charlie.
"Vanessa." She hears a familiar voice and she looks up to see Jasper.
"Jasper."
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, thanks for saving me." She smiles towards him as he smiles back before motioning to see if he could sit next to her and she nodded.
"I'm sorry about earlier. You have to understand that I don't think of you as a problem at all." He tells her as she smiles and looks down at her hands.
"I know." She whispers softly and he sighs thinking of something.
"Let me take you out. Make it up to you at least."
"Jasper."
"Please."
"Fine." She chuckles making him smile and take her hand.
"Ahem." They turned their heads to see Charlie with her arms crossed glaring right at Jasper.
"I should probably go. I'll see you." Jasper tells her and she nodded before standing up.
"Uh...goodbye Mr.Swan." He waves at him and leaves as Charlie watches him disappear to a corner before looking at his daughter.
"Dad. Really?"
"What?" He grumbles and Vanessa giggles shaking her head as Bella comes back a little bummed out. They left the Hospital and headed towards the diner to eat.
After their dinner, they went back home as Charlie carried their bags into their rooms. Bella thanked him and went inside her room shutting her door leaving both Vanessa and Charlie at the hall.
"Are you sure that nothing hurts?"
"Dad, I'm not fragile." She tells him and he sighs nodding his head.
"I'll see you tomorrow. Goodnight." She kisses his cheek and gets inside her room shutting the door.
"I don't understand teenagers." Mutters before going inside his room and closing the door.
Vanessa walks to her window and opens it as Jasper quickly hops in as she did so.
"You know I opened the window to let in fresh air right?"
"I am the fresh air." He grins and she rolls her eyes,as she couldn't help but chuckle at him.
"Alright, I'll give you that. It was very smooth." She tells him as he smiles before holding his hand out towards her. She looks at it for a moment then back at him as she takes his cold hands into hers. Despite how icy cold his hands were, they felt warmer under her touch. She moves herself closer to him as she places her hand where his heart is and her ear against it. He knew that she would not hear anything and that saddens him, knowing that his mate would never get to hear his heart pounding for her while he gets to listen to hers. How fast they would beat when his near or at a soft pace when she feels relaxed around him.
He leans his head against the top of her and kissing the top of her head as she closes her eyes reminiscing how close they are for each other before she looks up towards him. He stares into her brown eyes getting lost in them as he could see her soul. Pure and filled with love and happiness, the only thing he wanted to know about. He now knew that he doesn't need his gift. His mate is right, there is more than just using his gift to know what she was feeling. He places his forehead against hers as she closes her eyes and sighs with content making him smile more.
