L is staring at himself in the mirror, knowing his appearance will make him more sick than he is right now. He grabbed a ponytail, tied it in his hair and then began cutting the piece off. He then grabbed the clippers and started shaving some of his hair off and did so, going for a buzz cut as it'll be easier to manage for now. He smiled at it, knowing he feels better and more in control. He's not upset about him having cancer, even though he was crying. Regardless, he was feeling okay right now. He still wanted to work and asked Watari if he could. He said he'll think about it and give his answer during lunch. He nodded and went to the bathroom.

It is now lunch and L headed to the table, sitting down after. Watari placed the bowls down and then screamed, almost dropping the chopsticks. Light then got out of the deck and went to his room, crying hysterically some more. He then went to the closet and locked himself in there. During dinner, Watari finally spoke. "L, remember when you asked me if you could continue working? My answer is yes, but only for three hours as usual. Afterwards, you have chemotherapy and then you'll go home, rest, eat and repeat. Think you can do so?" He said and L nodded, doing so.

"You know what, Watari? I don't feel scared that I have cancer anymore. At first, I was, but now I'm realizing that since it's only stage 1, it's not all that bad. I'm actually really happy and positive right now. More than ever actually." He smiled, using his fork to eat his rice. He's not good at chopsticks after four years as he kept messing up. Light said it's alright and he doesn't have to use them if he wants, but it's preferred for some foods.

"I'm glad you're happy." He said, smiling as well but only faking it as he was still very upset and worried about his adoptive son being sick.

"The best part is that I have you, Light, our family and the Task Force. And definitely everyone at the orphanage back in England." He grinned harder.

Meanwhile in Winchester, England, it's 8 pm currently. 8 hours ahead of Tokyo to be exact. Roger had spoke to all the children three hours earlier about L having cancer and they were all upset, angry and devastated mostly. Some had asked questions like if he'll die. The answer is no and he will survive this because he is in stage one and usually that's at least easier to manage as he can beat it and also be cured faster. Not fast-fast, but fast enough to do the job. Roger still didn't tell Near this, as he was still learning how to process certain things. He decided to tell him when he's ready.

The next day later, during breakfast, all the children were talking about L. Near went to one of them and tapped their shoulder. "Excuse me, but why are you talking about L? Is he okay?" The 13 year old white haired boy asked.

"Yeah, he just has a cold. He'll get better soon." Marcus, one of the oldest kids said to him and he nodded, not sure what to expect. Either way, he went to the living room and started playing with toys and then his train afterwards. Roger saw him playing alone again and sometimes wished he was social, but understood he wasn't comfortable around others or talking to them. Unless it's Mello or L. As well as anyone he's actually comfortable with. Including Light. Maybe it's time to have a chat with Near and bring up L with cancer. Even though it's been a day since he's been diagnosed with it, Roger knew it was best to tell Near. Just in case.

"Nathaniel, I need to talk to you. Can you come over here for a moment?" He called the boy out, beckoning him over to his direction. Near looked at him, thinking he got himself into trouble.

"What is it, Roger?" He asked him, standing there as he saw him with tears.

"Nathaniel, please sit." He instructed him and the 13 year old did so, sitting normally as he felt like it was necessary in this case. "L has cancer. It's non Hodgkin's lymphoma and he's in stage 1, which means it's curable and treatable." He told him, crying harder. Near didn't believe him, thinking L must have a cold like Marcus said.

"But Marcus said L has a cold. I heard with my own ears." He said, knowing there is no way his older brother has something like this.

"Well, cancer is like a cold. But it's not. I'll explain more later to you and the rest of the children." Roger said, sniffling and took his glasses off, wiping his eyes. Near didn't know what to expect right now. L, cancer and definitely anything else related to it.

"Roger? Is L going to...you know, die?" He asked the older gentleman.

"I hope not." He said, taking a deep breath in as he was still emotional during this whole time. Even last night after Watari brought up L's diagnosis, this still made him cry a lot. We then cut back to Tokyo. L was reading and learning more on non Hodgkin's lymphoma. Watari smiled to himself, then went to check up on Light. He saw him in the closet in his and L's room.

"We need to talk." The older gentleman said and he nodded. They went to the deck and Light sat down. "Light, I understand you're scared of possibly losing L too. But the oncologist said that he will be able to survive. It's going to be alright." Watari said, confronting the younger Yagami as he was crying right now.

"I just don't want to see L all sick and possibly die. He's my boyfriend and best friend. I'll be alone if he doesn't make it." He sobbed, clearly upset more than ever and couldn't stop crying.

"I know, but you can't let this affect you right now. You have to stay strong and be there for L. He needs us. Even you." He assured him, hugging him some more. Light was really hurting a lot and he didn't want this to be happening. His depression was starting to come back and the fact it did, really made things worse than he expected. L saw him crying, but didn't figure out what it was, given the screen door was closed. He called his therapist and spoke to her.

"Hi, Lawliet. How can I help you?" She answered the phone with a smile.

"It's something I need to discuss on our session tomorrow. Right after I finish my lunch. In fact, can you come over to my apartment for the session?" He asked her and she nodded, knowing if he wants to have a therapy session in his own home, that's perfectly fine with her.
