A/N:
Hoot hoot! Guts again! Thank you for makin' it this far c: If you can, I really appreciate any votes and comments :) (It helps me know if I'm doing a good job!)
Anyways a couple of notes I forgot to add..
This story will probably be a bit matured up for audience due to having no Disney breathin' down my neck. This simply means it'll get a bit darker than the original in future chapters, so proceed with caution (TWs will be tagged!)Enjoy your EXTENDED stay at the Owl House

I knock the door. I take a deep breath—it's almost like I'm expecting some distorted, GROM-ified version of my mom to pop out the door and go GRAHHH! MIJAAAA! Or even worse..a longwinded lecture.
But it isn't that. Instead of the void it's a warm, yellow light with my mother bathed in it.
"Hey mom..I'm home,"
She gasps—covering her mouth as tears begin to flood. She instantly draws me in a big warm hug. I sob upon contact. She pulls away to give me a kiss on my forehead. It's a pleasant surprise. "Mija, oh how I've missed you—" She stops and looks at the others. "Ah, where are my manners! You must be Luz's friends—It'd cold. Come in come in! I made beef stew." She hurriedly waves for everyone to come in.

Human food is weird, but certainly an...experience. The aroma drew me in, because the scent very much reminded me one-eyed prickle worm stew back home. Instead, there was no eyes nor prickles. Instead, strange cubes of brown meat without any additional features. I take a spoonful again, stuffing it in my mouth; I want to make a good impression.
"Okay, okay, hold up. What is a Kiki..miku? Is this like the anime music girl you use to like?"
"Mamá, no," Luz replies sternly. She is looking down in her bowl. With her spoon, she mixes the various plants and lumps of meat in her stew. A part of me has a feeling she isn't ready to provide a summary of downturns—especially ones she thinks are her doing.
"Ay, Mija! I'm doing my best! It's just a lot to process...Okay, so you kids were all fighting this emperor monster man.."
"Belos. Yes.." she pushes back on the wooden chair—it screeches as it scratches along the floor. She helps herself up from the table, grabbing her bowl with her. "Uhm..sorry mamá, I'm gonna quickly grab a bandaid for Amity. I'm full anyway, so I'll be back."
She speedwalks to the sink, placing her bowl with barely-eaten stew in the sink. It clinks. She rushes off to the nearby bathroom. Maybe it's best I take the lead. It seems like Luz is preoccupied with her thoughts still.
"Okay...and then there is another one causing trouble...but how can just a small kid be such a big deal? I mean you beat up the older one shouldn't this be easy?"
"Well..erm..it actually isn't that simple..Mrs.Luz's mom. I mean Ms. Lozceda! Uhm.." I stutter. She looks at me with a confused expression for a brief second, her head resting on the back of her hand. Oh gosh. I feel my face warm up—I probably look like a mess right now!
"Sorry—""No you're good sweetheart. Amity, right? Please continue," She consoled with a warm grin, tilting her head. I think I see where Luz gets her sweet nature from. "Also, call me Camila."
"Camilla! Right. This 'small child' is the Collector. He isn't exactly at our level.."
"I see.." Camilla squints, clearly still processing the information. She adjusts her glasses. "Uhm..okay give me a second to process this. Are you all done? Let's clean up."
