"Hi sweetheart. How was your day?" My mom asks as I enter the kitchen, where something smells really good.

"Fine, I guess. Nothing special" I watch her as she cuts some vegetables.

"I'm trying some new recipes for dinner. I'll be waiting for you to try it"

"Sure mom" I assure her then rush upstairs. I see April through the opened door of her room, playing with some toys, not even paying attention to me.

I go to my room and throw myself on the bed. I wish I could stay here forever. In this position, thinking of nothing and forgetting about problems. But it's not that easy.

But I also need to feel something and I'm tired of sadness and darkness. I need something else. Maybe going to a party wouldn't be such a bad idea. Just to forget for a sec about my shitty constant mood.

I close my phone then change my clothes into something more comfortable. I begin with doing some homework and by the time I'm done, I hear some voices downstairs and I already know is my dad. He and mom usually arrive at different times.

When I go downstairs, the dinner is already on the table, waiting for my hungry ass.

"April, look! This one is a special species of human called teenager. They come out of their cave very rarely and the ones who are able to see one, are considered to be very lucky!" My dad acts amazed, making my sister laugh.

"Oh yeah? Well, the one next to you is a species of common annoying dad, the one you can see almost anywhere" I have a devilish smile on my face, making my dad raise his arms in the air, playing defeated.

He looks very tired but he still manages to make jokes. April just laughs while looking at both of us and I can see in my parent's eyes how much they love it.

"Okay everyone. It's time for the zoo animals to eat"
My mom interrupted as she brought a couple condiments from the kitchen.

We all begin eating in silence, until my dad breaks it.

"So, Ava, how was your day?"

"It was okay. By the way, I'm planning on going to a party tonight" I announce

"As long as you'll be back before ten, you can go" my dad says then takes a bite of food

"Dad! I'm not five anymore!" I defend myself

"I was joking sweetheart. But try to at least be here before we go back to work again"

"Do you have to work on weekend again?" April asks disappointment.

My dad just nods because his mouth is full of  food. After a few moments, he talks again, this time looking very serious.

"Ava, I spoke today with your aunt and I thought you might help her with something. Noah's room needs to be cleaned a little and I don't think she's ready to do it by herself especially being alone. Do you think you could go and help her tomorrow?"

I think a little of it, not being sure what to say. I would love to help her, but I'm devastated too. His room is full of memories for me too. But I can't let her down.

"Okay. Tell her I'll be there tomorrow"

"Perfect"

After dinner, I immediately went upstairs and changed. I put on a tight black dress and a pair of air force ones. I'm trying a little to be sexy, but not too hard. I'm anyway not in the mood to impress anyone, only if they're really worth it.
