"I missed you so much" Billie kissed me while holding me in her arms
"You've literally seen me this morning" I said laughing, but it was kind of a forced laugh.
"I don't care. I want you around constantly" she slid her hands down my body but something made me take a step back. She took her hand away from my body and looked at me slightly hurt and surprised.
Since I arrived home I've been only thinking about what I just realised. I could be wrong. I mean, when I saw that laptop it was all in a rush. My mind could be playing tricks on me, but that information was all I had.
"Did I- did something happened?" She stuttered. I couldn't blame her of anything yet. Even if it was his laptop, god knows for what reason it was at her.
In my mind, I made this story where he gave it to Billie before killing himself, so people wouldn't know what he did. That was for sure only my mind, trying to defend Billie in any way possible. She couldn't have had the device for other reasons. Right?
"I'm just stressed out because of some exams. It will all pass. Don't worry." I leaned to give her a kiss then I walked upstairs, Billie behind me.
We ended up cuddling in my bed as she already got the hint that I wasn't in the mood for anything else.
"Billie" I called her name and she hummed as a response
"Are you one hundred percent sure Noah was doing what you said to me?" I asked staring into space. She lifted her head to look better at me and frowned.
"I mean, yeah. Why are you asking me that?" She asked on a defensive tone
"I don't know. I just thought...maybe he was looking for his sister" Billie's expression turned into confusion combined with something I couldn't quite read
"What sister?" She asked
"He had a small sister. Her name was Phoebe Brooks and she disappeared when she was five. They couldn't find her. I know chances are small, but the world is cruel and she might have been...you know"
Billie threw her head back into the pillow and stared into space just like me.
"And why do you think he never mentioned that?" She asked sounding sad. I couldn't understand her mood changes but I also knew it was a sensitive topic.
"I don't know. Why would he say that to you? He needed the information from those monsters. Maybe he found out something, and it wasn't good news. Maybe that was the reason he did what he did." I tried to explain everything that was spinning in my head as good as possible, not just for Billie, but for me too
"Wow. That's...a lot to think about. Maybe you should stop stressing out about this, Ava. You're only hurting yourself" she turned her head to me
"Why? Is there anything else you're not telling me?" I asked maybe too sternly. She looked taken by surprise for a moment, but then she answered.
"N-no. I told you everything I knew. I just think we should let his soul rest."
I just nodded because it was clear she wasn't gonna tell me anything. I had to try by myself and it wasn't something easy, but something was telling me that it will be worth in the end.
"Babe" I got her attention again
"Can we spend the weekend at your house? I'm kinda tired of staying here" I asked nicely
"Of course. Anywhere you want, love"
I hated what I was about to do, but I needed to know the answer to everything.
