Zagon couldn't help but notice how things seemed to be going a whole lot smoother. A lot less tense than the last few.He was now walking in the lead, leading the group. Cassiopeia and Beckett walked in the middle, as Muse and Kasdeya took up the rear, seeming to be in deep conversation.
"So," Beck said suddenly, taking Zag's attention, "if everything is real, does that mean Santa is real?"
"Big fat man?" Zag responded with his eyebrows raised. "No." He laughed. "Definitely not."
"Zombies?" Asked Cassi.
"We can only hope." Zag smiled.
He didn't know why, but he actually quite enjoyed hearing the mortals talking about the immortality world, and having happiness to their voice as if it were the best thing ever.
"Hope?" Choked Beck. "Zombies are the worst. If anything exists, I hope it's not no damn zombies. Let someone try to eat my brains—"
"What brains?" Cassi chuckled.
Beck pushed her. It was a playful push, which only led her to stumble, but they had a good laugh about it.
"Are sirens actually as hot as they say?" Beck asked, speeding up to Zags left as Cassi took his right.
Zag looked over at Beck's tan skin. It looked so soft under the days bright sun. His lips looked a shade of pink, that were wet by him recently licking them. Zag smiled, "They have, as history says, beautiful, attracting voices, but no, they're not. They look more fishlike, with sharp teeth, kind of like piranhas.."
"That's...interesting." Cassi said, looking over at Beck with a bright mocking smile. "Would you like to kiss those piranha teeth?"
"I'm going to kill you." Beck scowled at her. "Like physically kill you."
Cassi laughed softly in a low tone, as in mild amusement.
Zag's body jumped, feeling a jab in his shoulder. He looked to his left, seeing Beck pulling away his finger, which he had aggressively jabbed Zagon with.
"What was that for?" Zag narrowed his eyes, rubbing his shoulder.
"Did you feel pain?" Beck asked.
"The only thing I could feel was you stabbing your finger into my arm!" Zag said, his voice accidentally rising. Zag thinned his mouth quickly, hoping he didn't make Beck upset. But Beck was far from upset, and it actually seemed to rouse him a bit.
Beck gently placed his hand on Zag's shoulder. Zagon grimaced. That same pain shot through his shoulder, that was a reminder that Zag couldn't touch Beck. The same way Kas couldn't touch Cassi.
"Move it!" Zag groaned.
Beck quickly moved his hand, where the pain instantly gone.
"I'm sorry." Beck said. "Your shoulders just incredibly warm."
"Really?" Zags voice was full of sarcasm. Part of him wanted to throw Beck against a tree from the pain he put him through. The other part of him still wanted to press their lips together.
"You okay up there?" Asked Kas's voice, easing up every single bit of the anger from Zag, sucking it all up like a vacuum.
"Fine." Zag said, circling his shoulder, still feeling a tight pain within it.
"How far do you think we've gone?" Cassi asked.
"Lake Charles, Louisiana." Said Muse.
"Cool." Cassi smiled. "I've never been out of Mississippi before."
