Lenny's POV
He can't take me back. I can't go back.

Not to him.

I've been on the run for three months now. My dad is a bad man.

I turned 19 then. It was my birthday. He beat me because I didn't cook him dinner.

So when he went to bed, I left and never looked back. I can't speak because of him. He slashed my throat once. One of his friends was a doctor, so he got him to patch me up.

No questions asked.

I had been sleeping in that lady's shed because it was warm and safe. I can't sleep out on the street. Especially since I'm a petite woman.

"We are here," Detective Sebastian says.

He gets out of the car and starts walking to the door. He stops when he sees I'm still in his car.

He walks over to my side and opens my door for me. I get out of the car and seek his hand again. He looks at me in surprise.

He leads me into the precinct where we got a lot of weird looks. He takes me to a room and holds the chair out for me. "You hungry?"

I nod. He smiles at me and squeezes my hand before walking out the door. It was a pretty room. Looked like a lunch room.

Someone else walks in and I stand up in panic and rush to the corner of the room. I sink to the floor and press my face into my knees which I clutch to my chest. Don't hurt me, don't hurt me, don't hurt me-

A hand touches mine and I bite it. "Fuck," they say.

"Jaxon what the hell?" I hear Sebastian's voice. I rush over to him and wrap my arms around him. He will protect me.

"She fucking bit me," he snaps. He had such an angry voice. He was going to hurt me.

"Dude calm down," Sebastian hisses. "She doesn't handle human contact well."

"She seems to like you," Jaxon says.

"Cause I've been soft with her," Sebastian says. He pries me off him and takes my hand. "Come sit down," he says, leading me back to my chair.

He sits me down and slides over a bag of chips and a can of soda. I rip into the chips, my stomach growling. "She's the complaint you went out to?" Jaxon questions.

"She's been sleeping in the shed there," Sebastian says.

"Does she want to shower?" Jaxon questions.

"I'll get to that," Sebastian murmurs. "I need to know her name first."

"She hasn't told you?" Jaxon asks.

"She can't speak," Sebastian states.  "That's why I have the alphabet chart."

He pops it in front of me and quirks an eyebrow at me. I spell out my name. Lenny.

"Lenny," he says. I nod.

"What a name," Jaxon says. "Does she have a family we can send her to?"

I turn to Sebastian in panic and shake my head. "No family," he whispers. I relax into my seat and open the can of soda.

"She can't stay here," Jaxon states.

"I know that," Sebastian hisses.

"We can take her to a shelter," Jaxon murmurs.

"She can come to stay with me," Sebastian says. "I mean I have a spare room."

"Dude that's crazy," Jaxon says.

"Is it?" Sebastian questions. "She needs help."

"You will have to talk to Captain about this," Jaxon says. "This is not my problem."

"I will," Sebastian says. Jaxon smiles at me and then walks out the door. "That's my partner," he says. "At work."

I nod. I point at the chips.

"You want more?" He asks. I nod. "I can go grab some," he says. "Just make sure you don't bite any other officers okay?"

I nod again. He gets up and walks out of the room.

He was gone for a while but comes back with my chips and a duffel bag.

"We are gonna go back to my place," he says. "You can clean up and stuff there."

I stand up and take the chips off him. He leads me out the back to his actual car and holds the door open for me again.

We drive to his house in silence. He didn't live downtown. He lived in the rich part.

His front door had a keypad and everything. He shows me around the place and the last spot was his spare bedroom.

"Make yourself comfortable," he says. "There's an ensuite as well."

He walks out of the room and I rush into the bathroom. I get undressed and turn on the hot water, loving the feeling of clean water on my skin. I haven't showered in so long.

I lather my hair in shampoo and conditioner and then scrub my body with body wash. I leave the shower and dry myself off, stopping short when I spot my clothes on the floor.

Well, I just cleaned, I don't want to put my dirty clothes back on.

I wrap the towel around me and walk out into my room and through to the hallway. I find Sebastian cleaning some dishes in the kitchen. It was so cute, cause he was singing too.

I knock on the counter and he jumps. He turns to me and his eyes widen. "Lenny something wrong?"

I blush and feel myself getting frustrated. How am I supposed to communicate with him?

I walk over to him and pull at his shirt.

"Right," he mutters. "You need clean clothes."

I nod and smile.

He sighs. "I'm sure Chelsea left some things."

Chelsea? Who the hell is Chelsea?
