Seb's POV
Take her away?"She's my family," Ash argues. "She needs to be with us."
"I understand that, but she's been here with me for the last five months," I snap. "Look I didn't know how to tell you this, but we are together."
Ash frowns. "Together?"
Lenny nods and wraps her arms around me.
"We love each other," I murmur, smiling down at her.
"What!?"
Lenny flinches at the outburst. I push her behind me.
"Hey you need to calm-"
"She can't consent," Ash snaps. "She doesn't understand how wrong this is. I mean there are nine years between you."
"She's an adult," I say in a cold tone.
"You're a sick fuck," Ash growls. "She's a child. She's been through something and you're using that to get with her. I could take your badge."
"No, you can't," I say. "My team knows about our relationship since I lodged it when it became official. Lenny signed."
"Because you forced her," Ash snaps. "You're probably abusing her like our dad did."
Something inside me snapped. I grabbed him by his collar and pushed him against the wall. "Do not ever associate me with that man," I growl. "He broke her. He took away her voice so she couldn't tell anyone. I've been with her for the last five months, fixing that. Making her realise how beautiful she is, how brave and strong she was to survive him."
He tries to talk but I cut him off.
"I'm the one she wants when she has her panic attacks," I growl. "I'm the one who she wraps around herself at night to stop the nightmares. So before you jump to conclusion, get the fucking facts first."
"You probably should let me go," Ash says.
"And why's that?" I question.
He smirks. "Cause Lenny ran off from you."
I drop him immediately and turn around. She was indeed gone. "Where did she go?" I demand.
"I've got it," he seethes and storms out to the backyard. I follow him out and he walks over to Lenny's shed.
I got her one when she started getting a bit too many plants. She loves gardening now.
I let Ash walk in there first and we see her crouched underneath the bench rocking back and forth.
He walks over to her and places his hand on her shoulder.
Rookie mistake buddy.
He groans in pain when she bites him. He goes again and this time she kicks him in the nuts.
I flinch at that one. I push him out of the way as he wheezes in pain. I get to my knees and smile at her. "Lenny it's safe now, you can come out," I whisper. She whimpers and shakes her head. "You're safe with me," I murmur. "You trust me remember?"
She looks up at me and tears were falling. "Take me away."
"Never," I whisper. "No one could ever take me away from you."
I hold out my hand and she takes it. We get to our feet and she wraps around me. I kiss her forehead and rest my head on top of hers.
I could feel Ash watching us.
I pull away from Lenny and smile down at her. "Why don't you show Ash your plants?"
Her hand cups my cheek and she leans up and kisses me. She pulls away and she glares at her brother.
"I'm sorry," he says. "I shouldn't have reacted like that."
Lenny nods. "I love him."
"I can see that now," Ash murmurs. "Now why don't you show me these plants? I didn't realise you were such an enthusiast."
"She helps my dad with his plants," I state. "He got her into this."
"You've met his family?" Ash questions.
Lenny nods.
"I'm going to go inside," I say. I walk out of the shed and run up to the house.
I call Jaxon.
"Yo, my dude what's up?" He asks as soon as he answers.
"You didn't tell me you gave Ash my details," I say.
"I didn't," Jaxon says. "Hell, I never managed to contact him."
"He said my partner gave him my details," I claim. "If not you then who?"
"Shit," I hear Jaxon say. "I know who."
"Who?" I ask.
"Colin," Jaxon answers. "I was doing paperwork last week and he came around looking for you. He may have heard me telling Captain we found Lenny's brother and took the info."
"Why the hell would he call Ash?" I growl in frustration.
"To take Lenny away it sounds like," Jason states. "You sound stressed out man, you good?"
"Ash didn't take me and Lenny being together too well," I murmur. "We got into a fight when I said she was staying here instead of going with him."
"Lenny, had an episode I'm guessing?" Jaxon sighs.
"And he wanted to help so I let him at first," I say. "She then bit him and kicked him in the nuts."
"Ouch," Jaxon hisses.
"I don't like him and I think the feelings are mutual," I mutter.
"Going to be a long day it sounds like," Jaxon chuckles. "Want to come for dinner at ours? I'm sure Liv would like to meet him."
"Sure," I mutter.
Those two could surely make this better.
