Lenny's POV I wake up to Seb placing kisses on my back. I open my eyes and feel a smile on my face and turn to him. "Morning," he whispers.
"Morning."
"Last night was amazing," he says. "But I forgot to wear protection."
My eyes widen. I didn't even know.
"I ran and got some morning-after pills, they are beside you on the desk," he murmurs. "I'm going to go shower," he says. He kisses my cheek. "Join me if you want after."
He jumps out of bed and I sit up. I take the pills and swallow them with the water. I hear a knock at the front door and I get up, putting on a pair of shorts and one of Seb's shirts.
I walk to the door and open it up, dropping the glass I have in my hand.
Ash?
He smiles. "It is you."
I rush into his arms and his automatically wraps around me.
"You've grown up so much," he says. I nod into his chest. "Speechless huh?"
I hear someone clear their throat behind me. I pull myself off of Ash and turn to Seb who only had a towel wrapped around him.
"You must be Detective Hales," Ash says. "The one taking care of my sister."
Taking care?
"That's me," Seb says. "You must be Ash."
"That I am," Ash says. "You will have to thank your partner for finding me."
"Well I will go get dressed and we can go grab lunch," Seb suggests.
"Well I thought Lenny and I could just go," Ash says. "I mean you don't need to be there right?"
He doesn't know
I turn to Seb who smiles at me. "Lenny can't talk," Seb states. "Which is why we all need to talk."
Ash frowns and looks me over. Seb rushes back to our room and gets changed, while I grab Ash a drink.
He was quiet till Seb came downstairs. "So how did your partner find me?" Ash asks.
"We couldn't find you," Seb states. "But we did find your mum. She was on the records for your father's place."
"Smart," Ash murmurs. "So you gonna tell me about Lenny or what?" Ash's tone was cold.
"Your dad was abusing her," Seb says. "He slit her throat, so he had one of his doctor friends fix her up. Too much damage was caused that they had to remove her voice box."
"Shit," Ash whispers. "He was that bad?"
"Why don't you sound surprised?" Seb questions, his tone starting to get angry. "Did you know?"
Ash flinches. "Look I knew my dad was abusing my mum and then Lenny's mum," Ash says. "It's why I stopped going there. And then when Lenny started telling me about how she knew about it, I confided in my mum. I told her I wanted Lenny to move in with us."
"She wouldn't allow that?" Seb whispers.
"No," Ash whispers back. "She said, she's not my daughter and not my responsibility. My mum has some mental health issues. It's why I left her house at 18."
"You used to call."
"She said you used to call?" Seb questions.
"Well when I spoke to my mum about it, she immediately cut my ties with dad," Ash says. "Which meant Lenny too. I tried to find her when I was eighteen, but I wasn't exactly rich."
"She's strong," Seb says. "She fought for her life and then escaped. I found her three months after when she was living on the streets."
"Thank you so much," Ash says. "And I will repay you in any way I can, for all that you've done."
"No, don't worry about it at all," Seb says. "Lenny has been amazing. We get along great and she's gotten me through some hard times myself."
"You were married," Ash says. "Yeah, I did my research."
"She got pregnant with my best friend," Seb states.
"Geez," Ash laughs.
"Are you married?" Seb asks.
"I am," Ash murmurs. "Her name is Georgina. Lenny you are an Aunty to two nephews."
I smile in excitement. I can't wait to meet them.
"I've told Georgina about you and she's setting up the guest bedroom so you have your room," Ash says. "Your gonna love her too."
