4 months later
The twins are already 4 months old. Padme and Anakin couldn't even keep track of time because they were so busy looking after two babies.
"I can't believe they're already four months old," Padmé said, shaking her head. "It feels like just yesterday they were born." Anakin nodded, a wistful smile on his face. "I know. It's going by so fast." They watched as Luke reached out and grabbed a toy, pulling it towards him. Leia was lying on her back, kicking her legs and cooing.
"I remember when they were born," Anakin said, his voice soft. "I was so scared, but also so excited." Padmé smiled at him. "I know. I was scared too. But look at them now. They're so beautiful."
They watched their babies for a few more minutes, lost in their thoughts. Then Padmé spoke up. "Do you ever wonder what they'll be like when they grow up?" she asked. Anakin shrugged. "I try not to think about it too much. I just want them to be happy, whatever they do."
Padmé nodded. "Me too. But sometimes I can't help but wonder. Will they be Jedi like you? Will they be politicians like me?" Anakin chuckled. "Maybe they'll be both. Jedi politicians." They both laughed, imagining their babies in long robes and carrying lightsabers.
But then the laughter died down, and they were left with a sense of wonder and awe. They had created these two little lives, and now they were responsible for raising them, teaching them, and guiding them.
"I love them so much," Padmé said, tears in her eyes. Anakin put his arm around her, pulling her close. "I know. Me too."
The babies were lying on a soft blanket, cooing and babbling, while their parents made silly faces and tickled their tummies. "Who's a happy baby?" Padmé said, smiling at Luke. "You are, yes you are!" Anakin tickled Leia's toes, making her giggle. "And who's a little princess? You are, yes you are!"
The babies were having so much fun that they didn't even notice the beautiful flowers and trees around them. They were too busy laughing and gurgling.
After a while, Padmé and Anakin stopped and looked at each other. "Do you think they're ready?" Anakin asked. Padmé nodded. "I think so. Let's try." They picked up the babies and held them close, looking into their eyes. "Okay, Luke, you go first," Padmé said. Anakin made a silly face, sticking out his tongue. "Come on, Luke, show us your smile." Luke looked at his father, confused. He had never seen that face before. Anakin tried again, this time making a funny noise. "Boop boop!"
Luke's eyes widened, and then he burst out laughing. It was the first time he had ever laughed, and it was the most beautiful sound Padmé and Anakin had ever heard. They hugged him tightly, tears in their eyes. "Oh, Luke, you're amazing!" Padmé said.
Leia was next, and she was even easier to make laugh. Anakin just had to blow raspberries on her tummy, and she giggled uncontrollably.
They spent the rest of the day playing with their babies, making them laugh and smile. It was the happiest day of their lives, and they knew that they would never forget it. As the sun began to set, they lay down on the blanket, holding their babies close. They watched the stars come out, feeling the warmth of each other's bodies. "I love you," Padmé said, looking at Anakin. "I love you too," Anakin said, kissing her forehead.
They knew that their lives would never be easy, but they also knew that they had each other, and that was all that mattered.
The day had gone by fast and it was almost time for the twins bedtimes. Anakin had just been playing with Luke in the garden while Padme was with Leia in their baby room. Anakin walks in and sits on the chair in the baby room.
"Anakin, do you smell that?" she asked. Anakin sniffed the air and made a face. "Yeah, I think I do. It smells like... diapers." Padme groaned. "Oh no. I think you're right."
Padmé and Anakin were in the middle of changing their twins' diapers when they realized they were out of wipes. They looked at each other in dismay, then back at their babies, who were squirming and kicking on the changing table.
"What are we going to do?" Padmé asked, her voice tinged with panic. Anakin shrugged. "I don't know. Maybe we could use a wet washcloth?" Padmé looked skeptical. "I don't think that would work. It would be too rough on their skin."
They both looked down at their babies, who were now giggling and reaching for each other.
"Well, we can't leave them like this," Anakin said, determination in his voice. "We'll just have to improvise." Padmé nodded, a small smile on her face. "Okay. Let's do this."
They quickly finished changing the diapers, then picked up their babies and headed to the bathroom. They rummaged through the drawers, looking for anything that could work as a makeshift wipe.
Finally, Padmé held up a package of cotton balls. "What about these?" Anakin looked skeptical. "I don't think they'll be absorbent enough." Padmé rolled her eyes. "Just trust me."
They wet the cotton balls with warm water, then headed back to the changing table. They laid their babies down and began to clean them up, using the cotton balls to wipe away the mess.
It was awkward at first, with both of them trying to maneuver around each other and reach the right spots. But after a few minutes, they fell into a rhythm, working together to get the job done.
They chatted and joked as they worked, marveling at how much their babies had grown and changed in just a few short months. They were a little bit grossed out by the task at hand, but also proud of themselves for finding a solution.
Finally, they finished up and picked up their babies, who were now clean and dry and happy. They looked at each other, grinning. "I can't believe we did it," Padmé said, shaking her head. Anakin chuckled. "It wasn't so bad. We make a pretty good team." Padmé nodded, then leaned in and kissed him. "Yes, we do."
Padme and Anakin were now watching the twins play on the floor. The babies had been awake for several hours, and Padme and Anakin could tell that they were starting to get tired.
"Look at them," Padme said, pointing to the twins. "They're rubbing their eyes and yawning. I think they're ready to go to sleep, it is past their bedtime." Anakin nodded. "Yeah, you're right. Let's get them settled in their cribs."
Padme picked up Luke and carried him to the nursery while Anakin had Leia. They fed them, and rocked them gently until they were asleep. Then they carefully placed them in their cribs and tiptoed out of the room.
"Phew," Padme said, exhaling. "That was a lot of work." Anakin chuckled. "It's worth it, though. They're so cute when they're sleeping." Padme smiled. "Yeah, they are. I just hope they sleep for a while. We could use a break."
Anakin put his arm around her. "Don't worry. They'll sleep for a few hours at least. We can relax and enjoy some quiet time together." Padme leaned her head on his shoulder. "That sounds perfect."
