Chapter Four

Flashes of color. Images.

Memories?

I think so.

Flashes of a beautiful place flashed across my sight. Crystal caves, excellent white snow, caverns rich with gold, diamonds, and sapphire. Dragons, pegasi, giants, elves, griffins, and more.

I had a feeling of pure bliss. But it was short lived. What came next would scare the average person for the rest of their lives.

I did say the average person, didn't I?

Barren lands, fire, everyone and everything...just dead. Next, torture chambers.
People were chained up. Gods. Beaten gods. Everywhere. Me included.

I felt the pain and agony of being beaten and whipped. Being pushed, kicked, and impaled with swords, daggers, knives and other objects like I was somebody's damn training dummy.

Although it passed in only a few seconds, I somehow knew that in real time it had lasted almost over three years.

As it ended, a new memory came. But it was different.

"Mommy? I said involuntarily. My voice was...small, squeaky... young. As I heard what I had to assume was my own voice, I grew concerned. "Where are we going?"

There was a woman carrying me with sleek black hair and glowing purple eyes. Purple...she's scared. Why is she scared? How do I know this?
I noticed quickly that she was extremely underfed.
The woman that was carrying me was running. No...fleeing.

Your only 6, you shouldn't have had to deal with this. A child. I heard her think.

So I was a child? And being tortured like that?

"It's okay honey, don't worry, we'll be safe here." She soothed as we stopped running and hid.
She ran her hand over my hair.

"Where's daddy?" I asked.

My mother stared at me as she started crying. "We won't see daddy for a long time."

Ah, he's dead.

At least..you won't, my little jewel. My mom thought.

Mind reading?

"Is he on another mission?" I pushed.

"Something like that." She smiled.

Sudden footsteps in the cave made me jump as my mom put her hand over my mouth to keep me from making any noise.
We were hiding behind one of the huge crystals in the cave, as my mom thought the people, or...things, would move on.

Eventually they found us. They took my mom and beat her until they were satisfied.

I knew they wanted to kill her. Kill both of us. But for some reason, they didn't see me, I was grateful, but confused.
After they left, leaving my mother to die, I crawled to my mother.

"Mommy?" I shook her arm when she didn't respond.

"It's okay." She told me.

"Come on, we have to go. Get up mommy." I said as I looked around frantically before trying to pull her up.

She winced as her wounds scraped against the floor. "I can't honey, just stay hidden until our kind find you. Okay?"

Our kind? "Okay mommy, I will. But you need to hide with me."

"I can't, just go hide alright?"

I hesitated before answering her, "Okay.."

"Good." She said as she gave me a hug. "I'll miss you?"

"What do you mean?" I murmured into her shoulder.

She drew her last breath. "I love you, Rin."

Rin?

Once I opened my eyes, I knew I did not have long. But in my last moments awake, I saw Kuroka holding me while crying, Obsidian also crying by her side.
They just saw what happened, didn't they? I thought. Kuroka nodded.

My body made it feel like I was falling as I slipped in and out of consciousness. Finally, I gave in, closing my eyes.

The last thing I heard was Kuroka screaming, "Aaliyah! Mom, dad, help!" At the top of her lungs.

~~~~~~~
Kuroka
I held the strange person named Aaliyah in my arms carefully, trying not to touch her skin. As she slipped in and out of consciousness.
Me and Obsidian had seen everything, and we had started crying. It looked so painful. Neither of us could ever endure losing our parents or being tortured like that. Especially being that young.
They just saw what happened, didn't they? She thought. I nodded in response.
As she finally relaxed in my arms I panicked.
"Aaliyah! Mom, dad, help!" I screamed.
My parents ran over after telling the others to stay where they were, kneeling on her other side.
My mother reached up and put her hand to Aaliyah's head, wincing and pulling away when it made contact. Almost like it had burned her, which I'm sure it did. I could feel the heat coming from her as well. Luckily, I wasn't touching her skin, and for some reason, it didn't burn or affect her clothes in the slightest. They were quite cold actually.
"What do we do?" I asked, finally tearing my eyes away from Aaliyah.
"We take her home." My father answered.
"What about her parents?" My mother asked.
Me and Obsidian looked at each other, crying harder at the mention.
"What's wrong?" Our parents asked.
Do you want to explain? I asked Obsidian through our private link.
I dunno, Nyx. I think we should let her explain when she wakes up. I feel it might be an invasion of privacy. He answered.
I nodded and turned to our parents, "We think that we should let her explain when she wakes up. But we can take her home."
Our parents gave us a weird look but agreed. And just like that, we were on our way home.
This is one of my shorter chapters with under 900 words, so sorry about that 😅
Anyways, thank you for asking for me to continue, I was honestly thinking of discontinuing since I had to re-upload it I lost all my old views, even thought I had this chapter more than halfway finished already. But since someone asked, I decided I would continue. So thank you to the person who asked ❤️
Much love, Dusk.
