Kuroka

Damn it, what the hell is this? I heard Aaliyah think.

It wasn't hard to tell she was in pain, it was all she was thinking about really. Why doesn't she say anything? What's so bad about telling someone you're hurting?

I looked at her and decided to ask my parents, "Mom, dad, can I accompany Aaliyah back to her room? We can continue later."

Once the nodded I was quick to walk over to her, prepared to catch her if she fell while we walked back to her room.
I know I told you to stay out of my head, but thank you. She thought to me.

I simply nodded, not trusting myself to speak at the moment, in fear I might lecture her about not speaking for herself.

About halfway to her room I heard her breath hitch. As I turned around I saw her falling and was quick to catch her. I caught myself blushing at the sudden contact, but I couldn't let her fall, now could I?

"Aaliyah!" I yelled. "Are you okay? What happened?"

"I don't...know" She responded as she clutched her chest. "This has never happened before." She closed her eyes tightly.

What do I do? What do I do!? I thought.

"Im going to pick you up okay?" I ask her.

She nods and I carefully pick her up, trying not to hurt her more, but I fail as she lets of a scream of pain.

"Im sorry!" I say quickly, "Are you okay?"

I shouldn't have screamed, dammit. She thought.

I sigh. What kind of trauma does this girl have that she curses herself for every single thing she does?

"Im okay." She says after a minute.

"Good."

When we finally got to her room I gently set her down in the middle of her bed, this time not hurting her.

On our way here she had finally passed out from the pain. When she did I thought she had died before I remembered that she was visibly still breathing.

I waited around two hours before she woke up. I had summoned a book from the series "Shadow and Bone" I was currently on "Siege and Storm".

She woke with a gasp and her hand immediately went to her chest.

"Are you still in pain?" I ask, setting my book down.

"I- uh...no, I'm not." She said.

I wonder what happened. Why was she hurting. Now I want to go figure that out. Ugh. I thought.

"I honestly don't know why I was hurting that bad," Her voice made me pick up me head to face her, "the last time I hurt that bad, it was way way worse."

"I didn't say anything..?" I said questioningly.

She raised her brow, "Yea you did. You just said you wondered what happened and why I was hurting, and that you wanted to figure it out."

"I didn't say that, I thought it." I said, my eyes widening. "You can read minds, just like when you were a kid! I think your powers are coming back, and that's why you were in so much pain." I explained, "It was supposed to be over the years, so usually, it wouldn't hurt. But you've missed ten years, it all came back at once, causing the pain."

I tapped my chin thinking it through.

"Yea that makes sense." She said as she slumped back.

My parents walked in, my brother squeezing in between them and running to the other side of the bed.

"Are you okay?" He asked as he took a seat.

"I'm fine." Aaliyah said as she sat up again.

I glared at my brother. He already knew why and had sent me a challenging glare back that said, 'Come stop me'.

Listen, Aaliyah thought, whatever 'competition' you guys have going on, can you please not, at the moment?

We stared at each other for another split second before huffing and sitting back.

I looked up and saw my parents trying not to laugh as they knew what was happening as well.

"Anyways," My mother spoke, "Did Nyx already figure out why you were in pain?"

"Nyx?" Aaliyah looked confused.

Oh, I forgot to tell her.. I thought ruefully as my mother shot me a glare.

"Forgot to tell me what?" Aaliyah asked.

As I opened my mouth to explain my mother signaled for me to shut up.

"We all have titles that people refer to us as if they don't use our real names. Mine is Hakai, meaning 'Destroyer', Aizen's is Heiwa, meaning 'Peace'."

"So Nyx is Kuroka's real name?" Aaliyah asked.

"Yes, Nyx is her name, which you can call her from now on," My mother said, glaring at me once more. I understood that I forgot an extremely important tradition, she didn't have to rub it in. "Kuroka means 'Black Song', and Obsidian's is Kokuyoseki, which means 'Obsidian' , he didn't want to have a different name so he just stuck with the meaning of his title."

Aaliyah nodded slowly.

"Well, anyways, did she tell you?"

"Yes ma'a-" She stopped.

Right, she told me to call her Iz, don't slip up next time Al, you know what happens. She thought quickly, wait, what are you talking about? He isn't here anymore you idiot..

This girl... I thought to myself.

"Iz," She corrected herself, "She figured it out and informed me."

My mother smiled. "Well, we can educate you more about our world another time. For now, welcome to Zayus, Dragon Queen."
