That conversation has been replaying in my head for the last few weeks. Just when it's about to remove myself from my immediate memory, Akali will bring it up again when we're alone to make fun of me at some point, causing it to resurface. To be fair, even with how embarrassing it was, it was pretty funny in hindsight. I meant every word, though, and she made sure to let me know that.
To give an update on current events, though. KDA's album released, absolutely exploding out of nowhere. Either they got incredibly lucky, or their management had an incredible marketing campaign. I said incredible twice there, I noticed. Akali made sure to let me know, running laps around my apartment when KDA went trending on Twitter. Oh yeah, she's been over at my place much more.
Akali also has been getting a bit more public recognition, some of our outings being interrupted by a few excited fans. Something we'd have to get used to, I think.
Instead of individually meeting up with Evelynn and Ahri, like we did with Kai'sa, we decided to instead just hang out as we usually do on Fridays, and invite them to come with. We've had a few run ins together at this point, and Akali and I figured there was nothing wrong with a few more people assimilating into our group. Nothing horrible has happened yet, so I think things are going decently well.
"YOu *hic* are, FUCKING funny guy!" Ahri yelled, holding her bottle up as she pointed at Sett.
"And YOU are the funniest girl I have met! Hey, you, Akali, why haven't we met sooner?" He retorted, drinking another Redbull.
The prohibition era was over for Sett, but he chose to make a permanent switch to Redbull from alcohol. Take that as you will.
Currently, we were in the backyard of Evelynn's place. To sum up the current flow of events: Ahri and Sett were having a fantastic conversation, Yasuo and Ekko were in the corner doing... something? I don't know. Talon was having a muffled chat with Evelynn, which was surprising based on the amount I had seen him talk. Kat was nowhere to be found tonight, for some odd reason.
Akali and I? Well, Kai'sa was also here. The two of them were having a very in-depth talk about, well, something. I joined the conversation a little late, so I genuinely had no clue what was going on. I occupied myself by intensely staring at the fire pit lit in front of us, and concentrating on the feeling in my head whenever I felt Akali's hand slightly twitch. I think the caffeine was unconsciously getting to her.
I let go of her hand for a second, getting a curious look in response.
"Gonna smoke real quick, you can come with if you miss me or something."
"You wish I would."
"Whatever, bye."
I walked around to the side of her house, leaving Evelynn's gated backyard. I stood kind of close to the gate, to where someone could see me if they walked out.
I couldn't think of any other recent developments, really. KDA album, friend group merger thingy, redbull swap. I don't think I was missing anything.
I took a drag, feeling the menthol fill my lungs. I accidentally bought the wrong pack without realizing, and I was too lazy to correct the guy and buy another one. It was fated for me to feel this terrible sensation today, but it's fine. The back-end relief is kind of there anyway.
My suffering was cut off by the gate slowly opening, a purple haired individual strolling out of it. Oh, now I remember. Akali told me to expect this at some point.
"Yo."
"Hey there, handsome."
I kind of learned to ignore her subconscious flirting. She had something going on where she couldn't help it as much, and it would slip out on occasion.
