Chapter Ten:

Nkem had been spending long hours at the university library, pouring over books and articles for her final year thesis. She had chosen to write on the works of Nigerian novelist Chinua Achebe, whose stories had always resonated with her. She had been so engrossed in her work that she didn't even notice when Marco walked into the library and sat down next to her.

"Hey," he said, nudging her gently. "What are you working on?"

Nkem looked up and smiled. "Hey yourself. Just trying to finish up my thesis."

Marco nodded, understanding the pressure she was under. "Well, I won't keep you from your work for too long. I just wanted to check in on you and see how you're doing."

Nkem felt her heart swell with warmth at Marco's thoughtfulness. Despite the fact that he was now running his family's business, he still made time to come and see her at school. It was one of the things she loved most about him.

"I'm doing okay," she said, pushing her books aside. "It's just a lot of work, you know? But I'm managing."

Marco leaned over and gave her a kiss on the cheek. "I know you are. You're going to do great, I just know it."

Nkem smiled at him, feeling a sense of comfort in his words. She knew she had a lot of work ahead of her, but with Marco by her side, she felt like she could conquer anything.

As they chatted, Nkem couldn't help but notice the way Marco's eyes kept drifting over to her phone, which was sitting on the table in front of her. She knew he was curious, but she wasn't quite ready to share her big news with him just yet.

After a while, Marco got up to leave. "I'll see you later, okay?" he said, giving her one last kiss on the cheek.

Nkem watched him go, feeling grateful for his presence in her life. As she gathered her things and headed out of the library, she couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement building inside of her. She knew that she had something important to tell Marco, and she couldn't wait to share the news with him.

Little did she know, Marco had something important to tell her as well.
