Reality shattered the night Jay's disappearance was confirmed. Everything seemed lost now that Y/n's older brother doesn't return home every night. Clutching the faux fur throw blanket close, Y/n buried his face into the balled up fabric, desperately trying to hold back the wails that threatened to break the deeply settled silence of the room. His ears desperately searched for the soft click of the front door, and the purposeful tip toes across the carpeted floor that led towards the kitchen; to the fridge. It's dim light just barely making its appearance under Y/n's bedroom door. Jay's nightly routine after returning home late from wherever doing whatever. But none of that came, as expected. And that broke Y/n. Ultimately losing the control over his emotions and unleashing the flood that was his grief.
Knees pressed deep to his chest, Y/n had no grip on the broken sobs in between gasping breaths. This would have been the third night in a row that a breakdown occurred. But what he dreaded the most, was the constant emotional turmoil that would be of tomorrow morning. Another hopeless search for Jay that only ended in no real outcome. Leaving Y/n to slump around town like a lost soul left in purgatory. Unwillingly, the next day came after have cried himself to sleep.
