When I woke up, the first thing I noticed was warmth.
The second thing was that the warmth was Himi.
I was sprawled half on top of her, my head resting on her stomach, one wing draped protectively across her side like it had decided that was its job now. She was still asleep, breathing slow and even, one hand curled loosely in the fabric of my shirt.
Carefully, I shifted, trying not to wake her. My body protested—stiff, sore, heavy in that way that comes after too much noise and not enough rest.
I sat up and looked around.
Every couch, every chair, every inch of the living room was occupied. Limbs tangled. Blankets everywhere. I was the last one awake.
“Morning, sleepyhead.”
I jumped slightly and turned to see Shoto leaning against the wall, already dressed, hair still damp like he’d showered recently.
“We’re going shopping today,” he added casually.
I blinked at him. “How,” I asked slowly, “considering none of us brought money?”
He smiled. Just a little.
“Okay,” he said, holding up a finger. “First—Dad’s already gone to work. Second—it is my honor to inform you that I am now the proud owner of his black card.”
I stared at him.
“You stole Endeavor’s black card?”
“I prefer the term borrowed indefinitely.”
I looked at him with genuine awe. “I’ve never been prouder of you.
In the kitchen, Kurogiri was already moving with quiet precision, setting plates down, steam curling up from freshly cooked food.
“Mamagiri?” I asked, rubbing my eyes as I walked in. “Why are you here?”
“Master Tomura placed me under your authority for the morning,” he replied calmly.
I paused. “…Why would Papa do that?”
He hesitated for exactly half a second.
“And are you sure,” I added, “that they won’t burn the base down trying to cook without you?”
Another pause.
“Here,” he said, handing me the plates.
“Distribute the food. I will check on my kitchen.”
Then he vanished.
I stared at the plates for a moment before turning back to the living room.
“BREAKFAST,” I called out. “MOVE IT.”
They were up instantly. Apparently no one had actually been sleeping—just conserving energy like feral animals.
After we ate, I asked Kurogiri to warp us near the mall. He did so without comment.
The mall was chaos in the best way.
We snapped pictures of the card details—just in case—then split into pairs.
I ended up with Shoto.
Himi went with Katsuki.
Zuzu paired with Hitoshi.
“Hey,” I said as we walked, hands tucked into my sleeves. “Do you want to help me find a gift for Dad?”
Shoto hesitated. “I… sure?”
I led him straight into Hot Topic.
He stopped dead in the doorway.
“This,” he said slowly, “is not the Hello Kitty store.”
“No,” I replied, grinning. “It’s Hot Topic.”
“What’s the topic?” he asked seriously. “Devil worship?”
I doubled over laughing.
“I said we were getting something for Dad,” I managed. “He’d never accept Hello Kitty.”
Shoto nodded like this made perfect sense.
We regrouped later near the food court.
That’s when I saw Papa.
He looked… wrong. Pale. Breathing too fast. Hands shaking slightly at his sides.
I told Shoto to wait and walked over.
“Papa?” I asked gently. “Are you okay?”
He looked up at me, eyes wide and panicked.
“No,” he said. “I need to get back to the base. Now.”
My stomach dropped.
“I’m having a kid,” he added quietly. “And I didn’t even know I was pregnant.”
The world narrowed to a point.
I grabbed his hand.
“Kurogiri,” I snapped, voice sharp with command. “Warp everyone back. Now.”
The moment the portal opened, I knew.
I was going to be a big sister.
The base was chaos.
Controlled chaos—but still chaos.
I took one look around and made a decision.
“Grandpa. Dad. Me. Mamagiri—stay,” I said. “Everyone else—TV room. Now."
No one argued.
I turned toward the stairs and didn’t bother lowering my voice.
“DAD,” I yelled. “GET YOUR BURNT ASS DOWN HERE.”
He came tumbling down the last flight, half-dressed, fully alert.
Whatever was about to happen—
It had already started.
