°•CHAPTER 8•°
°•Brietta's POV•°
I sat up in shock, gasping for air, waking up from a dreamless slumber with a terrible headache, it felt like my head got smashed in with a thousand bricks. I took a look around, seeing I was outside of the Byers house, on their porch.
I saw another car in their driveway, which could only belong to Lonnie. Getting up with much difficulty, I quietly entered the house, going straight to Jonathan's room, only to find him already dressed struggling with his tie.
"You need help with that?" I ask him, his eyes went up. "Please." He begs staring at me through the mirror, "Why aren't you ready yet?" He asks, as I stepped closer, reaching out folding his tie, like my mom use to show me.
"Hopper and I went to my uncle's laboratory yesterday..." I told him, his eyes grew bigger, as he was staring at me. "After Hopper went to the morgue, cutting open Will's body to see it was only a fake." I informed him.
"So, Will could be alive?" Jonathan asks me hopefully, I nodded my head, "Yes, until this morning I have been able to feel Will's presence, but it's very faint right about now." I say a bit disappointed that I wasn't able to pinpoint where his presence disappeared too.
Jonathan was closely listening to every word, "Anyway, Hopper and I found something in the lab, but we both got knocked out, I actually just woke up on your porch, where my uncle's men, I suspect left me, that's why I'm not dressed yet." I informed him, pointing at the untouched dress hanging against his wardrobe.
His expression showed worry and a mix of anger, but his anger wasn't directed at me.
I got dressed quickly with Jonathan in the room, he turned around his back facing me, so that he can't see anything. I cleared my throat, signaling him, that it's safe to look, as he did, his eyes were staring at me up and down.
"You look beautiful." Jonathan says, when his eyes found mine, my cheeks felt hot, I turned away putting on my shoes. "And you look absolutely dashing Jonathan Byers." I say to him, a smile on my face, the tie seemed to bother him a lot, as he kept on fidgeting with it.
"If the tie makes you feel uncomfortable, just take it off. Nobody would even take notice of its absence." I told him, Jonathan stood there still, thinking, he ended up ripping it off, throwing it to the floor, sighing in relief.
When Lonnie saw I was there, a scowl covered his face, I gave him a smile, getting in the car with Jonathan.
We took our seats, by the grave, where the funeral ceremony would be held, looking around there were a lot more people than expected. I was seated next to Jonathan through out the entire ceremony, going against Lonnie's wishes, I could care less what the old man wanted.
I intertwined my fingers with Jonathan's. The priest was talking, but I shut him out. Mrs Byers who was next to me was glaring at the casket, her emotions told me she could tip over the casket at any given moment.
The service finally got to an end, people threw roses into the grave, and Lonnie was enjoying everyone's sympathy, because their attention was on him, and did that man like attention.
Jonathan dragged Nancy and I away from all the people, remembering everything he filled me in on, on our way here.
He pulled out a map with three places marked with an X.
"This is where we know for sure it's been, right?" Jonathan asks, to make sure it was correct.
"So that's ..."
"Harrington's house, here are the woods where Will's bike was found and then Jonathan's house." I state pointing at each marking.
"It's all so close." Jonathan mumble softly.
"Yeah exactly. I mean it's all so close." Nancy says, a little louder. "Yeah exactly. I mean it's all within a mile or something. Whatever this thing is, it's ... It's not traveling far." Jonathan explains, Jonathan and I already made the choice to go after this thing and put an end to it, we just needed to know if Wheeler would be joining us or not.
"You two want to go out there." Nancy states, her eyes were inspecting us, to see if were actually serious about this. "We might not find anything." Jonathan told her, she had to know we might not succeed in finding this thing.
"I found something, and if we do see it... Then what?" Nancy asks staring at us in question, sounding uncertain about this, Hopper and I found something even bigger, which I wish I could tell her, but it would put her in danger, so I kept quiet, three to many already knew, and Hopper would probably tell Mrs Byers on his own time.
"We're going to kill it." I stated with determination.
Jonathan dragged us to Lonnie's car, getting in the passenger seat, and started looking for something.
"What are you doing?" Nancy asks, not understanding what he could possibly be looking for.
"Just give me a second." Jonathan says, taking out Lonnie's gun, and getting the bullets. I didn't believe in guns, but it might just be useful in the future.
"Are you serious?" Nancy asks in disbelief, staring at the boy as if he was crazy, which he probably was, but it was either this or nothing.
My eyes rolled on their own at the Wheeler girl, keeping a look out for the adults."What? You want to find this thing and take another photo? Yell at it?" Jonathan asks her with all seriousness, I couldn't imagine killing this thing, just by taking pictures of it.
"This is a terrible idea." Nancy states, shaking her head.
"Yeah, well, it's the best we've got. What? You can tell someone, but they're not gonna believe you, you know that." Jonathan says to her nervously.
"Your mom would." Nancy says, making me shake my head. "Yeah, not happening Mrs Byers have been through enough already." I told her, even knowing Mrs Byers believes that her son is alive, even with this fake funeral shit.
"She deserves to know." Nancy states, her voice saying she knew what was best as her eyes were glaring at me.
"Yeah and I'll tell her... When this thing is dead." Jonathan told Nancy, taking my side, leaving her upset and annoyed at me.
