7. Competition confession

Sorry for how short and crap this is.

Nvm it's 2700 words. Um. It's still crap.

Just don't freeze up. Don't freeze up. I kept repeating that in my head."I'm going to find Sean, he said he's gonna get Zander and Luke ." Milly said running off again. I looked at Jake who looked deep in thought. "Um," Jake looked back at me "You won't freeze trust me." He smiled at me placing his hand on my shoulder, can he read minds? "Is that supposed to magically cure me?" I chuckled. "At lest I care!" He stomped his foot like a kid. "Let's go!" He said grabbing my hand and dragging me to the curtain. Reminds me of when he grabbed my hand in the library and the mall.. I mean Uh we went over to the others they were already by the curtain.

"Listen!" Milly buzzed. The last act was finishing up and crowd started to cheer, they loved them. There's no way we could go on after them.. they're so good. They are awesome there was no chance following that, if I do follow. I know I'm going to freeze, maybe I can just run out now? No, I signed us up for this knowing this would happened. I can't betray everyone. Well I can..no!

It feels like all the air in the room had been sucked out. "Hails.." Luke softy said. "Yeah!" I said, my voice high. "You okay?" He asked. "Yep!" I awkwardly laughed. "What's happening?" Jake asked coming over. "I think it's stage fright.." Luke sighed softly as he patted my shoulder. "You're gonna do perfect, Hailey." Jake said as he continued to look at me. "I know you will... you always have in practice, so what's gonna stop it now...?" I shrugged while shaking like a leaf. "They're all gonna be staring at me.." I said as I looked down. Jake lifted my face so I could look at him. "They'll be looking at you because they're gonna be in awe of you." he smiled. I managed to stop my tears, and smiled at Jake. "Hailey, listen to me you," He said, looking me up and down  "you are amazing you are incredible you are just just amazing!" He gasped in a funny way. "You can do it I believe in you! I know that, I know when you get on that stage with your guitar and sing your heart out!" He said waving his hands around. "And don't listen to what anyone else says you have the best voice I've ever heard in my life.. other-than-mine-of-course!" He smiled, saying the last sentence fast. I scoffed. Let's be honest I am the best.

"What you should be thinking about is how much you'll benefit from this, how much you have come to be here. You have set your last month, no your life to this, please please don't waste it!" He said in a forceful voice for effect. My eyes widened as I stared at him bitting his bottom lip holding my arms tighter. A side of him i hadn't seen yet, a side of serious and not joking around. A caring side other than sarcastic and weird.

"You can do this! And I'll be there! I'll never ever ever.. not be by your side." His voice cracking on the second ever. I felt tears start to build up in my eyes again. He's saying stupid stuff, but he has this tension in his voice which gives it more power. "Oh Jake, for once you kind of makes sense.. thank you." I smiled bigger than ever. "Come here." Jake said bringing me into a hug, I went red though. He was so warm and his heart was pounding, full of kindness.

He let go, holding my shoulders still. "But it seems to me it's pretty much like anything else. Face your fear. Fear of heights? Go to the top of the building." He exclaimed.  "You're afraid of bugs.. Get a bug." He suggested. I laughed looking him in the eyes. "So I should face my fears?" I asked. "Oh yeah! Go for it girl!" He smiled "Jump off the high dive! Stare down the barrel of the gun! Pee into the wind!" He exclaimed pretending to look into the distance. "If l'm staring down the barrel of a gun... l'm gonna be pretty much peeing every which way." I joked. "Alrighty then!  We have a band to win!" He jumped going back to his dorky self. "Competition?" I asked. "Same thing!"

"I bet 20 bucks they will be together by the end of the night." Milly whispered. "What? Pff- no way!" Luke scoffed. "Can you imagine if they have kids? And if the kids got her intelligence and Jakes raw sexual magnetism? Those nerds would get laid!"
