The Reign estate was decorated beautifully. Floral arrangements added colour throughout the house, it was stunning.

Everyone stopped by the entrance to the back. That's where it was set up. The sign, the flowers, the live orchestra. Sebastian went all out.

Nico had an arm around my waist, as Evans, Luca and the parents of the couple watched in anticipation.

Freya was stunned by everything, taking it in as she held onto Sebastian tightly. A few words were exchanged until he got down on one knee, holding a red velvet box.

I turned to Nico with excitement, seeing his eyes already on me. He was missing the beautiful moment in front of us.

"She said yes" I whispered, swaying in his arms.

He chuckled, glancing over and watching the newly engaged couple embrace. We turned to Luca, expecting theatrics but he simply smiled with tears in his eyes.

Everyone expected the same thing from him. More tears, slight wailing.

"I watched him" he pointed at Nico, "look at you the entire time"

Freya made her way toward us, engulfing me in a tight hug. She showed everyone the ring, it was beautiful. A cushion cut emerald. It was her favourite stone.

After congratulating the couple, everyone sat around the table with glasses of champagne, toasting the couple.

Nico held onto my left hand, swiping his thumb against my finger. I looked down, realising he was focused on my ring finger. Whether he was aware of it or not, he was doing it.

I have no doubt in my mind that he will be the one I marry. The one I wake up to everyday and fall asleep with. The one I would kill for.

Everyone was having an incredible time celebrating, no one seemed to notice that Sebastian had slipped away.

He stood out on the balcony looking down at the view. I haven't gotten to congratulate him properly yet.

The sound of my heels against the tiled floors gave me away. He turned to look at me. His brows knitted so slightly, forcing a smile.

"I just came to congratulate you. Are you okay?" I asked with concern, holding onto the ledge for balance.

He looked down at his hands with a look of defeat. what the hell was going on with him? He just proposed to an amazing girl yet he's out here and not with her.

I noticed the empty glass of whiskey beside him, and the splash of colour by his neck. He was drunk. Not too much, but enough to where you feel every emotion at once.

"You look great" he finally spoke up. That was all he had to say.

I didn't respond to his comment, blankly staring at him. Waiting for him to continue. The gears in his head were turning faster than he could fathom.

"I need to ask you something before I regret it"

I nodded as he turned to me, exhaling deeply. Please don't ask what I think he's about to ask.

"Could we have ever had a chance? If I didn't ruin things, would we have worked?" his voice strained.

Sebastian and I could never have worked. There is so much more than he realises, why we weren't meant to be.

"No" I admitted. "We wouldn't"

His eyes lowered. The look on his face was full of hurt. Like I physically stabbed him in the chest and twisted the blade. The truth hurts, and it just destroyed him.
