The flight back to New York was a quiet one. In fact, there was no driving to the airport on Sunday because shortly after Eren hung up the phone, he called and had his own jet arranged to fly back that same night.

He sat next to you the entire time, texting back and forth with Gen & Levi about what was going on.

Apparently Genevieve's father overdosed at his desk and she found him there. Once she ran to notify her mother, she was found screwing the pool boy in a storage closet.

Her entire life fell apart at her feet.

You see, Genevieve was the only child to her parents Oliver & Delphine. She was the only one in line to inherit her fathers great fortune & businesses, which was passed down from generation to generation to the men of the Caige family.

So she spent many hours dedicating time and shadowing under him to learn the ways of how things ran. Also gaining her masters in business with a minor in what she really wanted to do... fashion design.

And while it was a soul deteriorating experience to grow up knowing you were the girl your parents never wanted, she made up for it by being smart and doing well in school.

Plus, there were other outlets of letting out the aggressive lonely monster her parents created— bullying any woman who seemed to challenge two things: any woman with a sense of freedom or any woman that seemingly threatened to take away what little freedom she had.

And what was Gen's only sense of freedom?

Eren.

Eren made her feel like she had a purpose outside of being a prodigy, very similar to the feeling you gave him. He, although it was never real, was the only one who ever made Gen feel like she was actually loved for who she was on the inside, you know... beyond the crazy.

Gen loved her parents, most children can't help but love their parents even if it's buried deeply under hate. It wasn't something she could really control and she hated herself for it... It made her feel weak.

And now suddenly she was the CEO of multiple companies in her 20s... but worst of all she'd lost what little she had to hold onto of her family.

You, on the other hand, found it difficult to feel bad for her. On the other side of where Gen stood, a racist woman's (likely) racist ass daddy died while her mama was getting that old funky pussy creamed out in the same house. Rich people shit, you didn't give a fuck.

What did sit with you the wrong way was that Eren actually left. Left the moment you guys had, just when you had finally mustered up the courage to truly tell him how you felt... cause he asked!

He asked for the song, he asked what he was to you, he wrote that note and did all the sweet shit & still left to save someone else....

So much for being a priority right?

You scoffed under your breath, arms folded, looking out at the full fluffy clouds in the night sky through the jets window. Your body radiated negativity, though you said nothing.

It didn't go unnoticed either, Eren knew he fucked up but he also didn't hate Ollie. He was a very jolly old French idiot but he saw Eren as his friend.

He pushed air out through his cheeks as his eyes briefly wandered to you. Afraid that if he looked too long or attempted small talk, or even attempted to apologize you'd definitely hit him.
