Eren stared emotionless at his phone while he watched your name read across his screen. The picture you took with him in the mirror that night Jean's place got shot up still your contact picture, right where he left it.

You looked beautiful. Your eyes were so dark, like the starry midnight sky he watched alone for so long before you came.

Always inviting him in, always making the gravity around him heavy enough to pull him in. He'd been getting lost in that abyss since the first night he saw you. He's never been able to make it out.

That darkness was his light. You were his home.

But look where he was now.

It rang on silent over & over again with missed calls & texts from you. You were safe now, he could turn his emotions off to concentrate on the task at hand.

"Sorry.." He mumbled before shutting off his screen and shoving it in his back pocket.

He looked in front of himself at the blonde tide to the metal beam in the drafty unfinished skyscraper downtown, just like he'd planned.

She stared back at him, looking a lot different than she did an hour ago.

Blood from her broken nose leaked over the grey duct tape that sealed her mouth and stained that green dress to a deep maroon at the top.

Her makeup was cried off and melted down her face like layers of a geode crystal.

Those blue eyes pierced him partially in fear but more prominently in pain. Whether it was primarily from physical or the constant emotional betrayal wasn't something he was sure of.

Wasn't like she could tell him or like he'd ask.

Levi had her phone, unlocked by her face as he scrolled through her text messages and call logs. Slowly piecing together just how all of this happened in the first place.

"You've been busy." He slowly paced in front of her, one foot in front of the other, eyes glued to the screen below him. "You would think with all these businesses left to you, you'd have no time to be so..." Levi's brows furrowed as his tongue ran over his lips, searching for the right words.

"Obsessive."

"Distracted." Levi's eyes finally left the screen to meet the bitter green ones in the background.

Eren wasn't gonna ask Levi what was in there. He didn't care.

As far as he was concerned, he knew the 4 people that were involved. He had a plan in place. There was nothing left to see.

Levi continued anyway, eyes falling over to Genevieve. He didn't need to ask to know that Eren was both disinterested and impatient.

"Look, I get it. You love Eren. Loved him so much you'd do anything for him & anything to keep him. I'm not your dad & it's not my job to teach you any lessons but sometimes love puts us in really difficult situations. Such is the case for you & the woman you helped mercilessly beat, the case for Eren being similar to you & nearly dying chasing after that same woman, and such is the case for herself...for getting involved with Reiner to begin with."

He stepped closer to her, "Case in point, there's consequences. Whether it's the consequences of love itself or the things people do while they're in it is up to you to decide. And your choices... have lead you to meet me which is something no one should ever want to do. Cause now I have spend time outta my night here with you & here with Eren's attitude. I'm sure you know how annoying that can get."
